Hi there, as someone who has recemtly become interested in the idea of camping with my family i bought my first tent today from the local market but it has no poles with it at all, now i thought i would just buy them but having no knowledge of tents or poles it is a minefield of poles out there, so my questions are what poles do i need for this tent and also what is a good price to pay for them? thankyou in advance, sorry it would appear that i forgot to add the details of the tent before, it is a vango 900 diablo, can't believe i did that

I used to have a Diablo 900- fabulous tent - It needs 3 long geodesic poles (just means they cross and support the structure) also 6 bedroom poles, or 3 if it is the earlier version of the Diablo with smaller bedrooms. Also you need the porch poles. You need to find out whether it's the old version or the 2008 version. the later had bigger bedroom pods (more poles) and a different porch (extended)
Your best bet is to try and pick up a complete used (and cheap) tent or just poles from ebay e.g.Diablo 900 Good luck - a lovely tent!

Are the poles going to cost more than the tent is worth? the previous owner obviously thought so. Keep an eye on Ebay something may turn up

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
hiya it is a 900 and i really dont know what the poles will cost but i only paid £8 from someone who did a house clearance , so thought it was worth taking a chance and seeing. thanks for your replies i appreciate you taking time

I have a pretty much complete set of spare poles for the XP, but I don't know whether the main poles are the same as the 900 (despite having owned both!). Also you may be on the other side of the UK and picking them up may not be an option.

Hiya Ahh...fresh...air, i would be interested in trying to see if they were compatible with my tent (well not tent as such yet) where abouts are you in north wales so i could check the distance and time it would take? how much money did you want for the poles? Thanks for the offer really appreciate it, Gina
Gina - if they are compatible and you would make use of the tent then you can have then for nothing - I am always happy to see more folk take up camping! Are you sure that the tent is not ripped at all? It is unusual to find a tent with no poles, unless someone has simply lost them? I am in the Ruthin area. Whereabouts are you?

Hiya, i'm in Nottingham, the only tear i have found is on a seam at the of the tent which my mum will sew for me (it is on a seam) i guess when i get it up i will be able to check it all propely. I have just checked the RAC routefinder and it says the journey is approx 2hrs 30mins so not too bad at all. I will speak to the people at Vango and check they are compatible first. I really hope so because i am desperate to go camping and thought this would be a way of affording it as it is so expensive even 2nd hand tents and equipment. Thanks so much, Gina

I think it should be compatible. I have had both the 900 and the 900xp and I don't think there is any difference in the main poles (the XP has eXtra Poles in the bedroom pods). I hope it works out for you. Check out the pitching video on the Vango website (if it is still there) and I'll help you with any questions you have about the tent. It's a good-un.
