Thats exactly what I've recommended on Sarah's other post asking which tent. I'd go with the larger of the 2 but still think it'll be too small for the 4 of you to camp in comfort.
Why do you have to have either of the 2 you have mentioned? How much is your budget? They well may be a better option for you than the 2 tents you have mentioned above.

They are both nice tents and out of the two the 5 berth would be the better option bedroom wise. As has already been mentioned a 6 berth tent would be more comfortable for longer trips. Outwell bedrooms do tend to be a bit larger than most but its a tight squeeze to get 2 single airbeds in a 2 berth bedroom pod.
We use our Outwell Nevada M which is a 5 berth for shorter weekend trips and use narrow airbeds (from Argos)in the 2 berth bedroom which gives a bit of room to get in and out for the 2 kids. Something like an Vango Icarus 600 would be better if you are going to camp for a week or more

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
hi thank you very much for your replies.
i did think the montona 4 was to small but all the reviews were all good.
i have found a outwell sun valley 8 which is in very good condition but as they don't do this tent any more i didn't know if any other tent bits would fit it like a canopy and carpet.
so i got think if its the outwell virginia 5 or the outwell sun valley 8 for me.
i have 200 to spend on a good second hand tent if anyone has one for sale.
hi just to let you all know i have just opted for the sunvalley 8 which i brought for 130 and was in as new condition and only used a handful of times. My question is do you know what carpet or extensions i can add to the side of this tent. many thanks

outwell montana 6 - its superb. loads of room and will sleep 4 very nicely. used ours plenty of times with 2 adults and 2 teenage kids. i personally wouldnt even think about any other tent.
There are always bits and bobs for the Sun Valley's popping up on E bay and the likes... These tents were very popular on here a while ago and have a good reputation....
I'm sure that there were some add-ons on an online retailers site not long ago.... I'll be back
I was right, Is THIS any good....? Bargain price, if you ask me
As for the carpet, you may just want to measure the living area and get one thats a close fit, a lot of us on here do that and quite often end up with something a lot cheaper than the "real deal"
thank you very much for your help just what i wanted
i've just brought that now my tent is complete and i hope it will look good on site.
and is there any good weather sprays for the tent
many thanks sarah

By weather sprays, do you mean water proofer? There are many brands but Fabsil seems to be the most common contender, If you have not pitched the tent, wait until you do and give the tent a good hosing, If the tent is in as good a condition as you have ben told then there should be no reason for you to waterproof it at all.... "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
The main problem with buying a pre owned polyester tent is that the fabric can (and will) be broken down by the suns U.V rays over time, rendering the fabric brittle and like tissue paper!.... However, if again, the tent has had minimal use, there really shouldn't be a problem.....
i will put it up tomorrow and get it wet and see what happens.
once again many thanks for your help this is one top site for new campers like me who haven't got a clue.
well what day ?
