Just purchased and very pleased with the ease of putting up.  But getting it folded anywhere near small enough to fit back into the original bag is proving a challenge and taken longer so far without success than putting it up!  Does anyone have any top tips for folding this particular tent to it will fit?

It can be done, we find its easier if you fold the front porch back over the main tent then keep folding half and half across the width before rolling very tightly starting at the back and rolling toward the front. Sometimes we have to do the final role twice to get all the air out. We also bought a seperate strap to go round it prior to putting it in the bag.
Practice is the key

Many thanks - we will try this and see how it goes.  We'll resist the temptation just to buy a bigger bag for now!

You could also keep the bag, take the bedrooms out and buy a small bag for them, the porch groundsheet and the doormat. Its amazing how much room the bedrooms take up when left hung in the tent as they can form a "lump" making it even more difficult to fold up to a small size

Welcome to the site.

If you search for Vermont XL in the message forums there has been plenty of advice regarding putting up and packing away. Arsenaldes has summarised it very well. We also keep the bathtub groundsheet seperate from the main tent. (We keep that, the footprint and miscelaneous items in a tent bag from a previous tent.

The main piece of advice that has helped each time is to roll, then unroll and roll again. This even enabled me to pack the tent away by myself one time.

Enjoy

1st time we packed ours it took us about 5 attempts, even left it half out of bag till the nxt day to have another shot. We can now get it in 1st time no probs! No need for a bigger bag. We fold front porch over main tent then fold the tent in half length ways , then in half length ways again and then for a third time before rolling tightly. Good luck and enjoy your new tent, we love ours!!

we have just used our this week for the first time, we was told to leave the front door open to help let the air out when folding away, yes  fold the front porch back over the main tent, and then fold in half the width on one side then half from the other side, keep going until just smaller than the bag, then roll up from the back to the front! good luck

Watch the pitching videos on youtube and watch how they are unfolded at the start, then you know how they 'should' be folded.

I have the Vermont L and have little problems fitting the tent with inners in place, the porch groundsheet and the extra footprint all in the original bag.
