I am interested in the history and evolution of tent design and have tracked down some early Cabanon catalogues, but nothing that can help me pin down when the Biscaya (Curved Frame Tent) design was introduced by Cabanon (between 2002 and 2005 as far as I can tell)
does anyone know the first model year and what sizes/fabrics it came in ?

The oldest catalogue I have is 2006 and that features the Biscaya range 320, 370, 440 and 500 "All Season Polyester" models and a "Polyester" version of the 370.
The one and only "Cotton" model the 370 featured only in the 2007 and 2008 catalogues, but was only ever manufactured for the 2007 season, also a typo in the 2007 catalogue states that the 370 "Cotton" was with SiG when in actual fact,it has only ever been produced with ZiG like all the other Biscaya's, the correct description for the "Cotton" featured in the 2008 catalogue, there was no 2009 catalogue for Cabanon tents, the only ZiG exception is the "Polyester"
Biscaya, which only came as the 370 and was the only Biscaya to have a SiG.
Edit = Biscaya Vis-a-Vis
Almost forgot about the Biscaya Vis-a-Vis ("All Season Polyester" only), I did get to see one of these on display at Caterrick Caravans back n 2008, a cavernous 8 erth tent with a ZiG area of around 11ft x 22ft, sharing the same poles and Sun-Canopy as the 320.
Could kick myself now for not buying one, £899 from stock and even less for the indoor display model.
Hope that helps.

thanks folks
yes I emailed Cabanon France and UK but no replies as yet - apparently it can take them a while and I guess this is the busy season
yes I guess it is an anorak thing, I like to know how things evolve year on year but the internet is hopeless as old stuff is replaced by new so often and so quickly
Francais - thanks for the definitive info, Biscaya/Awaya isnt a tent I am very familiar with but do admire very much in Canvas. I am guessing 2006 was the first model year ?

Hi Eldorado.
The current line up is Awaya 370, 440 and 500 all "Cotton" canvas, basicly the Cotton version of the Biscaya 370, 440 and 500 which are "All Season Polyester".
Only big difference apart from the canvas type, is that the Biscaya 440 and 500 come with kitchen extention.

My guess would have been 2005 at the absolute earliest, I've got some catalogues somewhere but I'm not sure where!

We bought our first Biscaya 320 in 2007 (only reason we have another was fire damage otherwise we would still have the same tent, but thats another story). I had seen the adverts for a year or so before we bought it so 2005 for the introduction sounds about right. Cabanon are not good at replying to emails but snail mail definitely works as I wanted a sun canopy for the Biscaya and the only way I could get a response was via snail mail. Once in contact however they came up trumps with probably the last 320 canopy in existence (as it also fit the vis-vis). I bought it through Forest Camping near Bournemouth and they may be able to give the exact dates when the the Biscaya was introduced. Good luck with the search. John
