Scamp, that looks really lovely! Thanks for sharing the pics!
Thank you, the pictures really do not do it justice. The only thing i do not like about it is you need to keep it clean inside. The amount of people who want a guided tour is constant Was caught out the first time, never again was pretty
But as for a quick pitch family tent they really do not get much better in my opinion.
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
I have a Bear Lake 6 and I always solo pitch it. It's not a problem. No, it's not FAST to pitch, but I can get it all up, pegged, ZIG attached and bedrooms strung in about an hour. Add carpet and fiddling with the guys and pegging points I think it's probably 1.5 hours to completely liveable.
I don't take it on weekend trips, I have a smaller Outwell polyester for those trips (although investigating bell tents!). My BL6 is for trips of 5 days + and for trips that long it is well worth the pitching time - I love it!!!
God help me the day Outwell stop making them, I will have to buy a spare! :)
------------- 2011 plans:
April - Exmoor 11 nights
May - Brynawelon, Wales 3 nights
July - Rendlesham Forest 4 nights
Then I am off back home to Australia, where the weather is always perfect for camping :)
Hi Scubabe, I can also do the WL5 solo .... BUT only in "our climate". However, I got really stuck when I took it to France last summer because I hadn't factored in pitching it in 35 degree weather! I kid you not, I thought I was going to have a heart attack when I was trying to pull up the canvas into position. I do like to be independent, but had no option but to ask a nice man to help me out. It was a bit of a blow to my female ego though to ask for help ... I felt that I should have a tent that I'm not capable of pitching solo! But like you, I totally love my Outwell and wouldn't be parted from it!

i think even 1.5 hours is too long when you're trying to look after kids as well. the quicker the better!
This seems to come down to personnel tolerance, for me no more than 30 mins.
Just to throw this into the mix - I'm just considering a Vango Peace 300 Tipi to use as a pup tent for the boys - its polycotton - The Peace 500 would be a good size for three of you, though theres no inner so no separate room for your boy.
Just ordered an Outwell Missouri 3 polycotton for the weekend as the TT is a bit much. Wanted a small polycotton tent with stand up height that can be pitched in 15 minutes, and I'm hoping this will fit the bill. Off to Castleton this weekend for maiden voyage!!
Hi Andy, well done and hope it is as lovely for you as it looks - make sure to post again after the wkend with your thoughts on it!
Am now in search of a trailer - the WL5 just too much, with gear, for a regular car, even an estate car! My little fella is just too squashed to make it comfortable. The expenses are never ending!
