Hi guys

Thank you for all the advise given in a previous post, so I thought I would ask for your help once more.

There is a Kampa Filey 6 which is a slight second because some of the darker dye has run into the grey dye.

Normally the Filey would be out of our budget but because it is a cosmetic 2nd it has bought it within budget. But given that our Vango was trashed on our 2nd pitch Im nervous about all this.

What do you think? the store said it wont affect the performance just the look of the tent.

It is an aluminum framed tent so it should withstand the wind better than our Vango did. We really want to get into camping (DH and I loved it for years until this last weekend at Shell Island) but I need to feel safe with my little girl in the tent.

Thanks again, so pleased I have found this site for advice.

Several forum members have bought these slight dye transfered Fileys. From their feedback it would appear that the marking on their tents was so slight it was quite hard to spot. The Kampa tents have a white panel in the roof for added light, I think that there was a faint staining of the blue on part of this panel. It wouldn't affect the performance or look of the tent and otherwise I believe they were perfect.

At the price you've been quoted for a tent of that quality with only slight cosmetic damage, I suspect that you would regret missing out on it. I would....if I though I could get into the house without the DW noticing!!

Btw, according to the website the Filey doesn't have aluminium poles but Dynalite alloy poles - lighter than steel but just as strong.

Hi

We are one of those who bought the cosmetic second Filey 6's. We think we managed to find the colour transfer on the roof but not too sure as it's so slight - we'd never have known it was there had we not been specifically looking for it! And in any event, it's on the roof so who cares?! And for £300 we certainly aren't complaining! (Think they may be slightly dearer now, we bought back in January).

We are really really pleased with ours, have been away on 2 weekends with it. I have to say so far we haven't been rained on but it was windy last weekend (although we were in a sheltered spot in some pine woods) & it was fine. So far it ticks all the boxes for our family of 5!

£300!!! That's it. If it's near that price I'm almost willing to incur the wrath of DW!!

So, where did you get it from? I've got to look more into this.

Hi

I bought a Kampa Filey after Norwich Camping could not replace my Vango Columbia , at the time I did not know it had colour transfer . Though on putting it up i noticed the colour transfer and this was only noticed because I had read about it on ukcampsite they discounted the tent for me . What a bargain as i would need to point out the colour transfer and apart from that we love the tent excellent quality and spec . Well worth getting the vestibule as it makes the filey eeven better.

There were a few of those "seconds" about last year cant say ive heard of any this year.

Scout Kampa have a shop on Ebay where they sell their returned items and seconds might be worth keeping an eye on there but I think a "rage" tent would suit you better

Yes, ours was from Peak Outdoors. They have gone up a little bit since we bought ours to £359, to be expected I guess now we are in the camping season.

Thanks so much, Im now the proud owner of a Kampa Filey 6. I can't wait Im now going to plan our summer season camping.

Im such I big kid, although I have been told that if anything goes wrong with this tent we are not buying another

Our history with tents has not been plain sailing. We had a Gamma 350 for years (it is still going strong)  When our little DD came along we bought the Vango Diablo didn't get chance to test pitch and went on holiday with it only to discover it was faulty, They replaced the tent with a Vango colorado 600DLX. Unfortunately on our 2nd trip (May bank holiday) the Shell Island winds snapped poles and ripped the flysheet apart.

Fingers crossed this is 3rd time lucky and camping and the outdoors with become part of my DDs life.
