I'm in the market for a new tent and like the Kampa Pendine 8, it has good reviews on here, also like Vango Tigris 800 and Marista 700, would also be buyng extension for them.
Help which one, Vango seem to have some quality issues just now, so swayong toward Kampa Pendine, what do you all think?
Pick me a tent, i do prefer the layout of Pendine and Tigris.

I think you're likely to get no firm answere here lol! Lots of Kampa fansa, and lots of Vango fans around!!
We have the Maritsa - the 2011 model and we're thrilled with it. Having upgraded from a fibreglass pole tent which is very similar to the Tigris (the Gelert Horizon) I would defo pick steel poles over fibre glass any day (though it is heavier). We have had no quality issues at all, though I know last years model had some reports of leaking - I believe they have sorted that fault for this years model.
So, Vango Maritsa gets the double thumbs up from us!

I saw a Pendine on display a few months back and was struck by the thoughtful attention to detail in its design; little things but things I haven't seen in other tents of the price range. It was also clearly well made.
As arsenaldes has pointed out it has steel poles, unlike the Tigris, and so it will be much more stable and I like the large windows that will make the living area light and airy and feel less enclosed, unlike the Tigris - you will appreciate this if you are trapped inside on a rainy day.
The Marista suffers from the same small, high windows of its stable-mate and, although it does seem to have the benefit of a built-in extension, I'm not as comfortable with it as it has a SIG and that front door slopes - cooking inside there when it's raining (you'd have to have the door shut) would be a steamy affair. Whereas the door on the Pendine's extension is vertical and there is no SIG to collect pools of water should any rain be blown through the open door.
Pendine it would be for me out of those.

I've not seen the extension for the Pendine in the flesh. But I have seen similar side extensions and I suspect that not only will it fit snugly but it will be better than side extensions for tunnel tents with fibreglass poles.
My experience of fitting canopies and extensions on tents with fibreglass poles is that it can squash the tent. This won't happen with the pendine. I think you'll be fine.
Thanks - only concerned as it's the first tent I'm going to buy without actually seeing it in the flesh first, there seems to be only 2 dealers in Scotland the closest to me doesn't have it on display and the other is too many miles away to check.
I usually see a tent on a campsite get tent envy, find a display then decide. This time I'm going on spec for money and the advice of all you good selves.
As a general rule you should see the tent first. But that can be a problem with smaller producers such as Kampa. The only reassurance I can give is that I've seen a 2010 Pendine and it impressed!! Kampa in general has impressed in a way that Sprayway, just a couple of years or so longer tent-production, has not impressed

We have recently brought the Kampa Polzeath and although only used once we are more than happy with it. Like yourself we were unable to see one in the flesh and just relied on photos and reviews, it just seemed to tick all the right boxes that other tents didn't.
Enjoy your new tent.
Thanks all - now just need to search the internet for a deal, need tent, porch, carpet and footprint.
anyone one know of any discounts when buying all together?
Some of the companies do "package" deals, so search on that. You will find there is little variation on the Kampa prices among retailers unless it is a 2009/2010 tent, but some do the packages as they can reduce the prices of the extras if not the tent itself.
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
