Well despite my plans to buy a small weekend tent with reasonable head height (tried to do this last week but when ordered the tent I had chosen was out of stock) I appear to have gone for a spur of the moment purchase instead!

Was looking on the Marshall Leisure website and they tempted me with this – a Coleman Alaska Everest (ever heard of it? – neither had I!) for £38 http://www.marshallleisure.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=190_31_250&products_id=148094

Not really what I was looking for but seemed a decent tent for the money and need something for a solo trip in July so should fit the bill. Out came the credit card and, after ordering at 11pm last night, it is making its way to me as I speak.

Did look last night to see if I could find any reviews but was unable to do so and thought at that price, with 3,000HH, was worth the risk.

So today decided to have a look around for anyone else selling it and drew a complete blank. Seemed odd so after much Googling have come to the conclusion that it is a European model – called an Alaska Titanium – looks identical and the size and weight correspond.

Found the full spec for the two man version on Coleman’s European website http://www.coleman.eu/Benelux/p-25821-alaska-titanium-2.aspx but unfortunately the three doesn’t have any details listed.

Many of the sites listing it in Europe describe it as having 4000HH rather than 3000 so will wait and see when it arrives.

I thought it was a pretty good deal for anyone looking for a weekender……?

Will update you when she arrives!

If it is this one and it has the same mesh in the inner tent roof as the Rock Springs you may want to make similar shaped sections of lightweight fabric and suspend it half way down the inner tent suspension toggles (we use the suspender clips with little hooks on them) to catch condensation dislodged by the rain or someone leaving or entering the tent, otherwise you get a bit of a shower in bed. Suspending some flymesh over the rear door of the inner tent is also a good idea using the same suspender clips and some window flymesh (we got ours off ebay). Certainly not a bad buy for the price though...

Hmm - think the colurs have improved on the 2004 model!

It may well be a bit dark inside but given that I'm way up north that could be a good thing with the light nights.

It seems to be freely available in Easten Europe

But do you reckon the instructions will be in Czech or Polish?! Sure I can work it out.

Does mean I didn't get my Kairos 300 (boo!) but reckon for that price I can probably use it for this trip and sell it on for £30 (we have a great small ads network where I work!) Save my pennies to see what Litchfield come up with next year in that style as I love a new tent!

Oh and I already have a cheapo Argos style tent that was given to me which I was planning to butcher for a groundsheet so I'll keep the flymesh and canvas for your suggestion.

Cheers
