In our new weekend tent!! Our Outwell Missouri River 3 polycotton is up for the first time. Had a few hiccups putting it up, such as realising the ZIG was in back to front when putting the bedrooms in!! Can't expect first pitch to go right I suppose! I was just about to say how lovely and cosy the tent is and whilst I am typing this message I have noticed a leak!!! Been raining a fair bit and there is water getting through one of the seams on the roof near the door. This isn't the first Outwell polycotton I have owned, but the Wolf Lake I had before never let a drop in. Think this one will have to go back I think! Apart from that, I'm really happy with it. Damn leak, a bit odd too because the stitching looks ok on the seam so can't understand why water is coming in????

Usually the reason that you might get a bit of water coming through the seams on your first weathering is that when the tent is stitched you obviously have all the tiny holes on the seams where the needle has been in and out. These should knit tightly together after the first good downpour the tent receives.
If you still have any problems as already pointed out just spray the problem seam with a bit of Fabsil(on the outside)

Well it's thrown it down all night on and off. Keeps raining today, and water keeps coming through. After 18 hrs of on off soakings would have though the leak should have stopped. It's away from the bedroom thankfully. For me a brand new tent shouldn't leak. Send it back????? Or try to fix the leak??? Can't decide!
Send it back!!!!! We had a Vango and it leaked from day one but tried to stick with it and sprayed it with fabsil everytime we pitched and every time it rained it leaked. We stook with the tent for 2 years in the hope that the spray would some how fix the problem but it never did, it just go worse with time. After 2 years of camping in a leaking tent we ended up throwing it away. Looking back we should of just sent it straight back because I agree with you and a new tent just should not leak.
We bought the tent from Taunton Leisure last week and they have a 28 day no quibble guarantee. If the item is faulty, they will send a courier to collect it. I have to say, their service so far has been second to none. This will be the 2nd Outwell polycotton tent that I will have sent back due to a fault. A shame really because I really liked them both. Took the Wolf Lake back because one of the seams came apart on the roof due to poor stitching. Great tents, iffy QC in my experience. I'm half tempted to get a refund and go for a Cabanon Guadaloupe. I know for a fact one of those won't be faulty!
Thanks for all the replies
