I went to Frensham WOC to look at a few models of interest and we fell in love with the Outwell Glendale 5 . We are a family of 4 and feel this style tent would suit us most (Monty 6 too big with awning) and Florida 5/Arkansas 5 I feel unsure about leaving the cooker exposed in the front canopy. We also saw a Salinas L with awning which was nice and a bit longer than a Glendale 5 but works out much more expensive . The best price online at the moment for the Glendale 5 with footprint and carpet is £589 - my question is should we buy now because it's a new model or does anyone think we will get a better deal out of season in the winter?

Hmm difficult as it's a new tent, I have heard people are struggling to get carpets and extensions etc for the new outwells, you will probably get a better deal out of season but it depends if you can wait that long. Another one to look at is the Vermont L it's like a Monty 6 with a built in awning but not as long.
Good luck in what you decide
Thanks for the prompt response
We are not in a rush to buy (head says wait, heart says buy and enjoy this summer) - just wondered what general opinon on current prices was. We have our old tent to squeeze into this year.
If you wait till the end of season you may well get a better deal but only if there is excess stock around. If it proves a popular model and sells out then you may have to wait till 2012 and another price rise.
The only thing I would point out if you intend using 2 single stardard size airbeds in the 2 berth bedroom pod they wont fit.
We are also a family of four and if I was looking for a new tent for week + long trips I would be looking for a 6 berth tent for the extra bedroom space. We have an Outwell Nevada M 5 berth for weekends and an Outwell Vermont for longer trips

We plan on giving the kids the biggest bedroom no matter what tent we end up getting. The Vermont L is a bit more than we wanted to pay new so I guess it's either a new Glendale 5 or keep our eyes open for a second hand Vermont L - anyone looking to sell theirs?
Thanks for all your help
The Glendale is proving to be one of the best selling Outwell tents this season. I think the design and price is just about right for most families. I think its taking a lot of sales away from the Oakland xl and the Nevada M AND XL, I know it costs more but you dont really need to add a canopy on to the Glendale so when you take that into account its pretty good value.
What im trying to get around to is I doubt there will be any good deals at the end of the summer where as tents like the Nevada M are already being cleared as the sales are not as good as in 2010.

Thanks for that Gary - I would think the Glendale 5 would suit quite a lot of people with it's layout - we think it would suit 4 of us but wouldn't be too big if just me and my husband went camping alone. I was thinking that perhaps it would sell out and there wouldn't be any deals - Ican find it for £458 without footprint and carpet so quite a saving on RRP already.
