Ok , we are buying another Montana 6 , but the question here is .....would you buy the 2010 model or hold out for the 2011 model ( with the stability system ) on it ,
Go outdoors do not have the 2011 model in stock yet and i need to buy from them as i have a credit note with them
Any thoughts on this please

Personally I would go for the 2010, the wind stabiliser system only means the guys are attached to the poles also, I wrap them round once on our poles anyway. I heard that the Windows aren't the same either, the older ones better.
Must be a stock issue as we bought the 2011 model from GoOutdoors in Stockport about two weeks ago now. We haven't had the 2010 model so really can't compare however we've just posted a review on the 2011 model in the Review section.
There are plenty of Montana owners that will give you the details however the main differences seem to be (although please correct me if I'm wrong, I usually am!)...
The 2010 has some opening windows which no longer open on the 2011 however the 2011 has bigger windows?
The 2011 has zip up curtains rather than zip-down
The 2011 has storm-type attachments that attach the guys to the pole using a velcro retainer (I'm not sure when they changed this it might be on the 2010 too)
The storm attachments mean that the 2011 has 'Force10' printed on the side to indicate the wind speed it is rated to, so when it blows down the field in a strong wind we can feel really silly :)
The 2011 has fluorescent piping down the side to tell everyone that you may have paid an extra £100 for essentially the same tent....
There are probably some other minor details not really worth worrying about.
We only really got the 2011 as we got both the 2011 tent plus the 2011 front awning for £560, if that wasn't a possibility at the time we would have gone for the 2010 or earlier if it was a good deal.
Hi campalots , at £560 for 2011 tent and awning i would say that's a cracking deal because the 2011 awning is over £300 on it's own so well done on that one, thanks for the good reply , Go outdoors in Coatbridge have no 2011 Montana's in stock and i don't think they will get any until they sh*t the 2010 stock they have
thanks
Tommy

Should really add that we got the 2011 awning off Ebay as someone was selling it brand new and unused (it actually was too!) rather than from GoOutdoors.
The good price on the awning was the main reason that we went for the 2011 tent from GoOutdoors as together it didn't seem like a bad deal.
I have read somewhere that the 2011 side porch pole does have a tendency to rub on the new bigger windows, posing a risk of wearing a hole in the window. Worth checking out...

i had the 2010 and it tore along the seam on the 2nd outing, taken it back to yeomans and they are replacing it with a 2011 model, now worried about window size etc is it better to ask for a 2010 model?
Having owned the 2009 & 2010 model, plus read about the updates to the 2011 model, I'd go for the 2010 as during the hot summers you want to unzip the windows and just leave the mesh closed to keep the tent cool.
In fact, I'd probably prefer the 2009 model, as it wouldn't have that silly two tone colour scheme by the bedroom pods and I'm sure that the vents in the pods of the 2009 were smaller than the 2010, which seems to have large vents right above your head and all the cold air just drops right on top of you.
Another tent Tommy.... I hope you manage to track one down. Whats your camping plans for this year? We are heading up to your favourite place on Friday. Just keeping my fingers crossed the weather is fine but I have a funny feeling we will get a bit soggy!!

Yesterday Cotswold's at Webb's of Wychbold (Worcestershire) were selling a 2010 version of the Monty 6 for £300. If I had the spare money I would have bought it at that price over the 2011 version
Please could you send a link to the shop that's selling them for £300 i can't seem to find it !
I found the site but could only see the 2011 model at £ 495
Thanks
Tommy

As the website is for the national chain it would only list that widely available. Try ringing the actual store as it is old stock.
