Hi all, I have the quechua 3 man xl tent and am looking to add a living area to it and viewing the above. Does anyone have one? What do you think? Where's best price from apart from Decathalon? What tent carpet would you recommend?
Gladly listen to your views and look forward to getting them....

Quechua is a brand of decathlons, you can get them on eBay but at a much higher cost. I have the base seconds and I love it. It makes a good sized day room/kitchen.
Hmm cant get prices up or chose store on decathlons site, must be having issues. Noticed tho they have reintroduced the green base seconds and the beige or brown options on the seconds base full. Pitty they havent done a flat access version like the new family seconds 4.1 and 4.2 standard and XL.

Can someone tell me what the pitch size is of the Quechua secondw family 4.2 XL. I would also have liked a footprint for it. Would another tents match?

I have the base FULL which is the one that docks with the pop ups
Good idea but a pian in the proverbial when you need to get out fast for that early morning loo run!!!.
You have to exit the pop up and you're kinda crouched under the hood that protects the pop up from rain. Then you either have to wiggle thru the gap at the side then rush to the loo.( my usual method LOL) Or to be more correct you need to open the base, and get in. then cross it and open the other side to get out. It really is a bit of a palava I think

Hubby says we can't camp as much this yr mmm we'll see!!
camped in 2009= 27nights
Booked for 2010 = 30 nights.
When twinned with the 4.2 we used to leave the connecting doors open at night as onece its twinned proper nowt gets in anyways as the door on the base twinned is closed plus youve got doors on your pods to keep bugs out.
Family seconds 4.2XL measurements is on the decathlon site page just click the pictures till you find it.

thats fine with two bases or base and 4,2 but with a base and a pop up there is a gap between them. even if the pop up is right against the base there is a still a gap meaning doors need to be closed. And then opened when you need to get out for the first desperate loo run. It's the main drawback to the base and pop up combo in my opinion.

We didnt have to do that really with the base full option either tbh, that was with a smaller seconds 3 man under one of the flaps.
Thats the same as our set up and it's never been warm or calm enough to leave the doors open :(
