Yes, we've been in discussions with a number of insurers over the past few months and the next best policy on the market seems to only insure the tent when you're in it. The tent is insured if unattended... but only if left in a locked building!
We wanted to be able to recommend our customers to a policy which - let's be frank - properly protects the £200-£1500 they've just shelled out on a tent as you'd be surprised about the number of people that only get to use their new purchase once before a storm takes it and folds it into the nearest tree.
The contents insurance is a bonus on the policy so your standard sleeping bags, mats, tables and cool box etc are covered (i think laptops/iphones etc are excluded though as you would expect).
We get a lot of people thinking storm damage in particular must be a manufacturing fault and we get stuck in between a rock (wanting to help the customer) and hard place (the manufacturer's stance). Hopefully this will help resolve some of this - and we've negotiated a discount too
