Hi

Was hoping I could get some advice please.  We are looking to get a new or second hand tent.  Last year we bought a 2nd hand tent, I cant remember the make - I have ried to blank it out, but it was like a tunnel tent that had sleeping compartments at boths ends and the door was in the middle.

It was the worst tent ever, we had a week of pure rain and the tent leaked so much that at one point i was sleeping in a puddle of water.  It was also terrible to put up and found it very difficult to get taught.  So have decided to get a better one (hopefully).

There is only 3 of us (2 adults and a 6yr old) but we do like space.  I have seen some tents that I like the look of where the rooms are one end and then there is living area with a porch at the front, meaning wet and rainy days you can sit inside and still look out.  I have seen a Royal Bordeaux 6 ZG - which appeals to me as there is an additional side bit where you can put luggage etc, but some of the reviews say it leaks - and I have had enough of sleeping in puddles.  My o/h has seen a Skandika Saturn 8, which looks quite big, but very flimsy, also a Vango Veil 700 which looks quite nice.

Sorry for the rambling, but I want to make sure that we get the best tent we can afford - looking at spending no more than £350 really (can be 2nd hand).  Anyone have any views of the above, or any others which may be good.  ?

Thanks for your advice :-)

Firstly Welcome to the forum.

I would recommend the tent that we have, there's only 3 of us and the big living space and windows are great, plus you can get extensions etc.

the cheaper end of the market is not going to satisfy you after your bad experience, I would recommend Outwell, Kampa, Vango as the main brands to go for.

Check the reviews on this site, Oh and I recommend a 5birth minimum

Welcome to the Forum Angie.

We are a family of 3 (2 Adults and 10yr old) and we have a Sunncamp Global 600 with the rooms at the back then living room and storage area on side and canopy.  This tent is a few years old but you can still pick them up.

We are thinking about getting a new tent next year and I would like to have the same tent set up as it works very well for us so we are looking at the Kampa Filey/Holkham/Studland.

HI,
Got a few for you within budget:
Kampa Croyde 6 (could get the vestibule aswell which would take you slightly over budget)
Vango orchy 500
Kampa Frinton 5
Vango Maritsa 700

All the above tents have slightly diferent layouts but both have very gd reputations

Would also recommend any of the Kampas as well as the Outwell Nevadas.
