Hi. Newbie here. I am looking for a tent for two people with a porch which would be comfortable for two people to sit in along with the usual bits and bobs. I've looked a lot on the internet and been to a couple of outdoor tent shops but can't seem to find the one I like.

Could i have your suggestions please?

Price wise I would hope it was less than £150......

For two people to be comfortable you probably need a 3 or 4 man tent, otherwise there will be no room for storage of clothes etc.in the inner tent.

For steel pole stability, a 5 minute pitch time (by 1), plenty of room for 2 and their bits and pieces one option is a Vango Kairos 400.

Hacksaw Bob. That's the problem. Too much choice!

The vango looks intriguing. Hard to tell from the pictures how much space there is in the porch.

Not necessarily looking for standing room but certainly stooping! I'm 5 ft 9

And thanks for the welcome!

The Kairos 400 has been nicknamed the tardis by my 6ft husband. He can stand up in the tallest part of the tent. At 5ft2" I have free standup height throughout. There is room for storage along the front of the tent and room for a couple of chairs and a table with walk around space between them and the inner tent if that helps. We use ours for 2 adults and a child for overnight breaks and touring. We use our old rubberised airbeds as our Coleman Maxi Comforts are too tall and long and push the inner onto the outer. The lower height and slightly narrower airbeds are fab and give you room either side for you clothes. You sleep with you head by the inner tent door given the slope at the back, but as its very streamlined you can pitch to the slope rather than wind direction. With only 2 people in the tent you could put your airbed side on if its a deep one. It is a very sturdy tent.

If you want a slightly bigger area - the Kairos 500 has been developed further by Vango's sister company in the form of the Lichfield Findhorn 400, with a higher level of waterproofing, an extra fibreglass pole, mesh front door etc.

For us the design of the Kairos 400 was better, but may be the Findhorn is worth a look.

Have you thought about a sleeping tent and a day tent configuration? That it one set up I sometimes use - any old tent for sleeping in and a day tent for cooking, relaxing, watching the rain bounce off the grass, socialising. Its another option for you to consider

We've just bought a 2011 Kampa Fistral 4.

4 berth tent, good head height, living area incase of rain and attached canopy where you can sit or cook if it rains.

Licata 400 is a lovely, easy to use tent.
Ideal for 2-3 people and all their clobber!! I love mine and can pitch it solo in about 10-15 minutes. Large bedroom pod and spacious living area, with standing height, SIG and massive windows which let in loads of light.

Hi uproar13,

I don't think you will regret it - the Kairos 400 is a fantastic test. We had ours delivered a couple of weeks ago and couldn't believe the size inside the tent.

Tried it out in the garden as soon as it arrived. So quick and easy to pitch, could stand upright in it and so much more room inside than you would think looking at it from the outside.
