Anyone know anything about the new Calisto 500? We're looking for a weekender tent for 2+2, and I was keen on the Icarus 500. We go camping in northern Scotland though, where the weather can be frisky, so I wonder whether the new steel pole Calisto might not be a better buy - theres not too much in it cost-wise.
Any thoughts?

Out of the 2 I would spend the extra and buy the calisto as the metal poles will make it more stable

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
I have recently bought the Calisto 500, and am very pleased with it. First time we used it, we had Thunder, Hail, heavy rain and very strong gusts of wind and the tent stood up very well. The steel poles certainly do help when the weather gets a bit rough.
we have the Vango Zanzibar because of the security of the metal poles, also have the Icarus for when its just the 2 of us, & as much as I love it, I woud have bought a metal poled option if there had been one at the time - now I've got tent envy and want the calisto!

because of the steel poles, will it be easier to erect. Ime looking to change my suncamp evo 600 for a tent with bigger 2nd bedroom and this seem ok, but dont want to sepnd the extra is its not going to be easier, ide get the icarus if that was the case.
just had a look at the Vango website & did a side by side comparison - it doesnt say that the calista has a removable divider in the bedroom - this would be a deal breaker as we use the space as one large bedroom with the queen sized airbed running parallel to the back of the tent, easier to make up each day. would be interested to know if they do have a divider just omitted the info in their blurb

Thanks for all your replies - my impression was that the Calisto is pretty much an Icarus with metal poles. And at £199 online, one has been ordered!!
My only anxiety is that my original remit was to find us a weekender tent that wqs light and quick to put up by comparison with our Montana 6 - but I'm not sure how much smaller and simpler it will be in reality? Guess I'll find out soon...
