Hello

We finally had our first camping trip last weekend and unpacked our new Outwell Vermont XL and were surprised to find it had only been suplied with the small blue pegs.  After watching the 'how to erect your tent' video from Outwell on YouTube I was under the impression that there should be three different types of peg.

Before I phone up the company we got our tent from, to complain, I wanted to check if this is correct.  We were pitching in very windy weather and thankfully had four yellow pegs in our repair kit otherwise I think we would have lost it in the wind :-)

Thanks

Hi,

Sounds like you have a 2010 model.

We have the Vermont L 2011 model and that has the 3 types of pegs.

4 metal/angled for the corners,Brown pegs for the sides and luminous pegs for the guys.

Did you buy a 2010 or 2011 ?

If it's a 2011 model you should have zip up curtains and a luminous piping around the bottom.

Andy.

Hi,

I have to agree with Andy. Our 2010 model only came with blue pegs.

(Wish that we had zip up curtains - you can buy the extra pegs!)

Thanks.  Yes we have the 2010 model.  I think it's wise to buy some stronger pegs for the four corners.  Not sure how the blue pegs compare to the ones in the 2011 model

Hi, me again,

The 2011 pegs are larger, but if you were thinking of buying new pegs, I'd go for "Delta" pegs. Have a look in "Shop" above, you can get a discount as a member of UKCS.

As for the corner pegs, go for steel angled. You only need 4. (as Deltas are mainly for guy lines)

I think they are the best IMHO.

Andy.

With our 2007 Vermont we had 2 differnt lengths of black pegs plus the 2 metal corner pegs. I wouldnt worry too much about the pegs supplied as sooner rather than later youre going to bend them anyway. Delta ground anchors and rock pegs are the way to go
