Hi, My brother in law has got his eyes on one of theese tents. It is a 2010 version for £140 new with free delivery from Outdoor Action. As he is single he would have to put this up on his own. He has not camped for years and knows little about modern tents but he is a handy kind of person and can figure things out. Has any one got or had one of these tents? If so could you please let me know the way to errect this tent on his own? Also any one any thoughts on the tent for the price?

Thanks in advance. Barry

Hi Barry, I have the Carolina M which is slightly bigger (2 steel poles instead of 1) and I pitch mines solo with no problem as do lots of others here. I would imagine the Carolina S would be even easier! I did a thread on pitching it Here, It may be of help to you

If you go to www.outwell.co.uk and click on PRODUCTS and then TENTS you will find the Carolina S if you scroll down. Click on that and you will find a link to a pitching video. Although this video does have two people demonstrating pitching the tent it is such a small tent that one person can manage it so long as the wind is not too strong. I've pitched my Minnesota 4 solo and others have managed to pitch the Montana 6 solo.

I have this tent - purchased it in the Jan sales.
Not been tried in anger yet, but I've had it up in the garden by myself.
Took a bit of fiddling to work out the best way to do it, but it wasn't too much of a problem.

I pitch my Carolina 3 on my own with little problem.

This video shows the Carolina S being erected by two people but one person can do it just as well. One person may need to balance the pole using the guy lines each side until they have pulled the tent taut at each corner and pegged it. Then it stays up on it's own.

I would suggest putting the pins in the pole before raising the pole, and putting the fibreglass poles in after raising the main pole and securing it but everyone finds their own way of doing these things.
