I went on a solo camp this weekend just past - I really enjoyed myself just chilling out at the coastal site in Northern Ireland - with direct access to the beautiful Benone Strand it was idyllic.

I had recently purchased another Quechua pop up, the four man one. I already had the base seconds (the taller one). I pitched them butting up against' each other because this site charges for pup tents and utility tents, and I was going to argue the case for a 'modular system'. In the end the site (which is local authority and run by students in the summer) wasn't one bit bothered so I could have pitched the two tents a little bit apart from each other. It worked out well for me anyway.

We have got the 2 seconds 3 person tent. It is wonderful, I just love it.  Its just right for 2 people in the garden,or a quick overnight stay. Its roomy, cosy and cute.  And easier to fold up than I thought it would be. My daughter is taking it to 2 festivals this summer. Woe betide her if she leaves it behind !!

Your set up looks great, bags of room for one !

ok it worked...here they are in our garden.....slept 5 in them one night....hubby and 2 boys in the 4.1 and me and our youngest boy and dog in the BS...with inner....

thought they were great......although we wondered about one of the bigger second tents like your 4 man to sleep in, instead of the BS as there is no second door into the 4.1, and we would have had to keep moving everything out of the BS during the day.....this would just be for a weekend camp....still might do that....but we really love our Wolf lake 7 and just got this outfit for overnight stops on our way to our big holiday.....

anyway did not mean to butt in on your thread just thought as i had not posted these this would be the ideal place....

Love it  Love it   Love it   Victoria,

I can't think of anythin better than solo camping with my Springer Spaniel.   I think you are so brave.    I don't think I have the confidence to do it alone yet...   But I hope I will have 1 day.

Family 5 I love your set up, those two tents fit really well together.

I went to a campsite that I know has night time security. Also I had the most wonderful people camping around me, it was a great atmosphere and I felt very safe. I have moved on a bit from that last camping experience and in a way this camp was just what I needed!

Blimey! What a lot of Quechua porn to oggle over!

Your set up looks great, Victoria; yours does too F5.

How do the 'pagoda' style BII 4 tents stand up to the wind? I saw a couple suffering in the recent gales but perhaps that was down to poor pitching?

thanks Scep....I have to say we have not really tried the 4.1 in the wind yet.....but the BS held up really well last summer........I presume the poles would bend in a bit maybe...but they would always pop back up again...anyway will have to see...We do always peg out properly because where we live we are prone to sudden violent thunder storms so always have to be prepared....

I've found the Base seconds can take off on me, but on the occasions it has it's because the pegs pulled out off soft ground in strong winds. I think I need four deltas for the base seconds.
