We are considering the Montana 6 - but am very worried about its quality mainly the side porch. Looked in Go outdoors at it yesterday and the side porch poles rest on 2 black plastic stoppers that sit on the tent. In the one in the shop there was a hole in the tent from where the black plastic stoppers were sitting.
From all pictures have seen it is the way it is, but the one in Go outdoors was ripped - probably from movement of stopper on tent. This seems like a design fault. Other tents from Outwell have the side porch poles that attach directly to a pole not sit on the tent. I love the Monty other than this point

We have a 2006 model and it is the same. We have not had any problems with it though and I would have thought if there had have been problems Outwell would have changed the design.
Great tent though! We love ours, it has been well used over the years!
The Monty with a design fault well I never did. I wonder how many hundreds of people have tugged, prodded and generally abused that display tent now wonder its showing wear and tear

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
the 2011 montana 6 has larger windows and a revised pole layout for the side porch which means that the pole rests against the fabric and side window, i was advised not to buy a 2011 as this will wear through the window ,

Although buyers shouldnt have to do it, its and easy fix, just cut 10mm from each end of the thin canopy pole. It takes 30 seconds and fixes things instantly.
Having said that, the black plastic stoppers on our tent didn't touch the tent in the first place as long as the adjustment strap was pulled up tight as per the instructions. If the strap was left too loose then it did touch the tent. I shortened ours mainly because it was a such a tight fit to slot in, the pole just felt a bit too long.

Beat me to it but we only had to do one side as the metal frame didn't sit square to start.
I think you'll find the one on display at Go Outdoors has been abused by members of the public , they don't stay intact very long when they are on display
