MIL wants to buy us a new tent YIPEEEEE!!!  We have narrowed it down to 2 we like, one is the Royal Cuban 6 and the other is a Vango Amazon 600 with the extra canopy.  Choices and decisions are no good to me I am like a child in a sweetie shop!

We have the Amazon and love it, very handy having 3 proper bedrooms and lots of space for the kids if the weather's not great.

Just out of interest though, what's the budget like? The knowledgeable people here might be able to make some other suggestions for you

We have been quoted £600 for the Amazon 600, with carpet, footprint and side canopy, and £511 for the Royal Cuban 6 with footprint and carpet. MIL has set aside £650 for us, as she had some inheritance and has given some to both of her sons.

At that price, I'd probably check out the Kampa Croyde 6. You should be easily able to get that and all the gubbins well inside the budget

Might be able to stretch it to a Filey if you hunted around a bit.

Not that I'm saying there is anything wrong with either of the two you have already mentioned.

After a quick check, you could get a Croyde 6 with footprint & carpet for around £460.

The Filey you'd have to put £50 or so towards the whole kit.

Another option for you could be the Vango Maritsa 700. A lot of tent for your money there, and one that we have thought about changing over to.

We looked at the croyde 6 and the sleeping compartment at the back for 4 people was only 240cm, we looked at our double airbed size and it was 135cm meaning the too beds would be 270cm to start with.

What did you decide upon in the end?

We have the 2010 Vango with the enclosed canopy at the front and we love everything about the tent.

Great choice Bowman.

We've got the 2010 Amazon 600, and have just returned from a week at Gwithian Farm in Cornwall. On 1 of the days we had gusts of 38mph for a full 24 hrs and it stood up no problem even though the wind direction had changed since we pitched and it has hitting the canopy almost face on !!

Also there's been a few posts on here previous regarding the poles with the plastic stops on the end, these make a wardrobe rail that hangs in the left pod off the 2 plastic hooks.

Think it would be a good idea if Vango made the canopy detachable somehow eg: zip on/off and move the clothes rail to the right hand pod ( the left and middle pods have a zip divider which we use a 1 big bedroom ) on the 2012 model.

All in all a brilliant tent I wouldn't swap it for the world.

We've just bought the Amazon 600 2011 for just 2 of us!!!! It's fab! Love the space cos I always take more stuff and equipment than I need to!

Did a test pitch in the garden, and have our inaugural camping trip this weekend to try it out. Can't wait!!!! Hope the rain dies off a bit by then. But at least it would test the 6000HH!
