hi we have the Outwell hartford xl and its huge sleeps us six well in 3 seperate pods and loads of internal space plus a porch for cooking and storage.
Hi we have a vermont Xl and we love it, its huge, practical and everything we want out of a tent, whatever the weather, we cook and eat inside the front kitchen area if its dodgy outside and if its nice the whole front opens out. We use the wardrobe pod to put the loo in for the little one at night and there is loads of space in the living area for everyone. The only negative if you can call it that is if you use the front door in the rain, where the front is sloping, the rain comes in, not a problem really as you can get rid of your outdoor clothes and go in to the living area. (but it annoys my husband?) Its easy to put up for 1-2 people and i would highly recommend it to anyone.
All the Vermonts are decent tents our Vermont L is 4 years old now and still going strong
------------- Experience enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
We wanted a tent that would suit us for a typically Welsh Summer (i.e. Rain at any time!). I didn't want us to be on top of each other and the space the Vermont XL offers means that never happens. Beware though, you start looking for stuff to fill the space!
We also use the wardrobe (or shower room as I describe it to great looks of puzzlement) to hide the portaloo during the day.
Most that we have had inside during rain is 4 adults and 6 children with no sardine feeling.
The sloping front is the smallest of negatives of what is a great tent. Check out the reviews for a wider range of opinions.
Good luck in your search

Camping on Tyne in Miclkey garden centre. I would ring them first to make sure it is still there. It was on Sunday afternoon
Thanks, Kevin. I'll give em a buzz in the morning.
We have had a Vermont XL for the past 4 years - great tent for 3-4 adults who like lots of space. Very pleased with the quality (We have two other Outwell tents which we bought as we were so pleased with the quality of the Vermont). The separate porch area is great for cooking in if the weather is bad. This week end we purchased a Wolf Lake5 as our adult kids no longer want to camp! Going to miss the space in the Vermont - as leader64 says, you do tend to fill the space!
