We have a vermont Xl and get fed up of the rain coming in the sloping front door , We have been thinking of putting a canopy over the front of the tent and would like to know if anyone else has tried this and been successful, we are thinking of the Florida 6 canopy which is slightly wider than the tent. Can anyone give us any advice on this before we buy one?? thanks

I take it you mean an Outwell extension. As Outwell dont make a front extension for the XL anything you put on the front will be suck it and see. As its quite a bit wider you will have to adapt the fittings to the Vermonts front pole and as its only 150cm long most of it will be taken up with the Vermonts sloping front

yes, we thought the outwell florida extension is the closest in size but wanted to know if anyone had actually tried anything that had worked. We just want something over the door so we can keep it open in the rain instead of shutting ourselves in.
A few people have used the montana 6 canopy and then extend the securing guylines to suit, I have seen an article on here a few times on this subject and this is what is always recommended.
Do a search and you should find it.

Only problem is the Montana canopy is discontinued so best place to look is Ebay and they are going for silly prices at the moment. As Baggie said all you need is to extend the securing straps that attach to the front poles. This is the open sided Montana 6 "sun" canopy
