Hi.

We are just in the process of converting back to campers after 2 years of caravanning.

The tent we fancy buying is the Outwell Montana 6 with a front awning. Firstly, what are peoples views on the part of the awning that connects to the main tent poles. We have noticed it leaves a gap and as we are planning on using the awning as a kitchen / storage area, are concerned foxes or other wildlife might have easy access at night time? Has anyone experienced problems with this?

Also does anyone know of anywhere selling brand new Montana 6 2010 models. I can purchase a 2010 awning for £139 and have also heard most people who have had or seen 2010/2011 models prefer the 2010.

Thanks in advance for any replies!!

I think you will find most add on awnings, canopies, porches etc leave gaps somewhere. There were a few improvements in the 2011 models the main one being the new wind stabilisation system. I personally havent heard anyone say they prefer the 2010 model. The 2010 awning will fit the 2011 tent.

If you want a fully sealed front awning why not have a look at the Outwell Vermont L

Thanks, we have looked at the vermont but the thing swaying us to the montana is the small side porch which would be perfect for our dog to sleep in, save him being in the main part of the tent.

If you went for the Vermont XL he could have his own bedroom

There is another alternative to the Montana 6 + awning and thats the Kampa Filey 6 + vestibule and it has the seperate dog bedroom as well (side porch)

Hi ,

I have just bought the 2011 model Montana 6 and also bought the 2010 model awning to go with it  , i wouldn't worry to much about foxes etc getting in as long as you store your food correctly there should be no problem , and not many foxes would take the chance if you have dog around anyway.......they'll go for easier pickings.

Cheers Tommy 45

Does the 2010 awning look ok with the 2011 tent as Ive noticed they changed the size of the windows on the 2011 models and made them bigger. Is it noticeable or does it match ok?

The 2011 also has an additional yellow pin-stripe down the side too it's not significant and on it's not worth the extra money. There are a few people with the 2010+2011 on here though so they will advise better.

The best thing about the 2011 is that it has zip-up windows which means you can adjust them all for the amount you want on show rather than them simply being either fully open open or closed. This is actually more useful than it sounds. I'm not sure if the 2010 has this.

But to answer your question (eventually) I think the 2010 looks absolutely fine on a 2011
