Hi we borrowed my brothers outwell halford xl tent a while ago and two pole sections split!

Have just got a pack of new pole sections but i cannot get at the elastic at the end of the pole! have tried tweezers and needle neck plyers but just cannot reach the elastic!! any ideas?
The only other thing i can think of is actually trying to get the metal tip off the pole to get at the elastic knot as i can always glue it on again. But it does seem to be stuck fast!!
Any help gratefully recieved x

The last time I repaired a fibreglass pole I didn't bother with the shock cord and had it as separate pieces as I couldn't get at the elastic either! Slightly more time consuming to assemble but only by a couple of minutes.

Pull plenty of spare elastic through so there is no tension against the knot. Then try using super glue on the end of a nail or wooden dowel etc to grab the knot end. Can you see the knot, some times it gets blocked with mud. Try using some welding rod or piano wire to push it out from the other end.

Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
