Don't do what I did and that was to buy the Gelert Horizon Front porch by mistake because believe it or not the Gelert Horizon vis a vis tent has a front and a side extension availible for it, who'd of thought. Anyway cost me £15 to send it back and then I bought the proper Gelert Horizon side extension so all is good now except my wallet which looks like it's been on a diet

Hi Bruce thanks for your advice, I HAD bought a front extension because it was advertised wrong on ebay, so that was fun and games getting money back but now have the PROPER side extension what I needed and it fits like a dream.

It has gaps where the front and rear poles are but my sister is a seamstress and thinks she can sort this out to get a right snug fit.

The feedback in the review section for the side extension for the Outwell Carolina isnt that positive with references made to it being ill-fitting. I purchased the Carolina M yesterday so would be interested in others views about the performance of the side extension and on other makes of extension which would be a good alternative.

Hi Finetune, there is nothing wrong with the Outwell Porch and it keeps things dry, the only issue is and with most side extensions is that it isn't part of the main tent so there is going to be a gap where it joins and to be fair it does keep the weather out.

I had no problems with mine its just I wanted a bit more space to home the two mountain bikes we have and for cooking purposes, the Gelert Horizon just does the job, plus the Gelert can be open fronted or closed.

Hope this helps.

I had bought the Outwell extension before I got the Gelert Horizon side extension - wish I hadn't bothered with the Outwell one.  The Gelert fits just as well, is larger, you have the choice to have it closed i.e. front door. (You unzip the whole front if you want). Also you have curtained windows. It is fantastic if you want an extra day room. It is wider than the Outwell extension, and the colour is a great match. You would think they were made for each other.

My sentiments entirely, not really much longer but massively wider and when you look out from the tent thru, it gives you the feeling of enormous space.
