Hi

We need to upgrade our Sunncamp Vario 600 as its now not as reliable as it used to be in the rain. We liked the size and shape of the Vario and would like something fairly similar and have found 4 that look like they would be good for us. We are a family of 2 adults and 1 child and like the 2 bedroom 1 large living area layout, with pocket storage. I can't decide though between:

Outwell Nevada XL

Vango Maritsa 600

Vango Athena 600

Hi Gear Corado 6

Which do you think is the most reliable and better wuality tent and pitches well in a decent time?

Sorry for all the questions haha, I know I can rely on everyone for giving me good advice!

Thanks

Caroline.

I do not own any of these tents and so cannot comment on their design.... however, we do own 2 Outwells and always prefer this manufacturer. I cannot fault them personally and you can usually get spares easily for them.

hopefully someone can give you more specific advice soon!

good luck

x

we need to upgrade our vario because i ripped it !. We were planning on doing it next year so have had to borrow a tent for this summers holiday.
We love the look of the vango amazon 600. It is pricey but we intend to have it for awhile.
it has the same layout as the vario but a bigger porch/canopy at the front which we felt was the only thing missing from the vario. It also doesnt have the internal strengthening poles which we found caused all sorts of condensation problems.
I think the marista was one that we have seen and it seems to have straps for tension inside which we didnt like. (i may be wrong we have looked at a lot of tents !).
Good luck and i will watch with intrest to see any other recomendations.

I am going to say this before anyone else does, have a look at the Kampa tents before you finally decide as they are very good quality. Also I would go for a tent with metal poles as opposed to fibreglass ones as they are much more stable. I personally dont like the Corado unless you can get it at a really good price. You only need to use the internal straps if it gets windy

The straps inside a Vango tent only need to be in place when its windy. Otherwise they just sit in a pocket on the inside of the flysheet. They add considerably to the stability of a fibreglass poled tent. A similar tent without them will move around far more in windy weather. Its a technical addition using technology developed by Vango for mountain/adventure tents and is a real plus! We often leave ours up just in case without even noticing them and my husband is 6ft.

Kampa certainly have a good range of tents and are very much at the quality end of the market.

Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!

Another vote for Kampa here.  Just back from 2nd outing in our Filey and like it more each time we use it.

There are Kampa equivilents for some of those above, for very similar prices, but check out the quality. The reviews and comments are growing, so worth the time to look. Suprized there are any left to buy other than the fact that the masses have not heard of them. You could be Kampa'd too.

I'd recommend looking at Kampa for an option too, I'm a new Kampa fan and cannot fault the Pendine 8 we have.

Not going to get drawn in to what manufacturers are better than others,i own a vango but my advise is not based on some biased opinion.
I would advise you caroline, if you can, go and try and see the vango maritsa 600,most go outdoors stores have it on display,i have been looking to upgrade my tent for next year and have been to see various tents, and the one that i always come back to is the maritsa, the set up inside is great, dont think the other tents will give you as many set up options.
The enclosed canopy with sewn in ground sheet is great, quality wise it is up there with any tent, spent a good while inside it at go outdoors yesterday, zips etc as good as any of the other big name tents on display. Also has the chance to watch 2 young lads pitch it a few months ago when i was in glen nevis, they had it up in 25 min.

Kampa have actualy copied it this year with there Kampa Bamburgh 6,but have only put bug mesh on 2 doors.Good luck with your choise, they are all good tents you are looking at,and let us know what you choose

I must have missed something on here, didn't think there was a manufacture competition on, merely just backed up an option another memebr had given.

Previously owned Outwell and still own various Vango's, also fancied the Marista, but as I said before I'm also a Kampa convert.

Read all the reviews, and hope you have many happy camping trips in whichever you choose.

Hi bowies, if you are going to help some one trying to choose a tent, i think it is pretty important you give the best advise you can, simpley saying

'well i have a so and so and it is great'

how is that of any use to any one, state why you think it is a good choice,ie- ease of pitching, pitching time hh rating etc.To simpley advise some one on a tent just because you have a tent from that manufaturer,if you think that is giving sound advise well thats your choice.I'v seen all the above tents caroine has mentioned, and my advise was based on that.

As OP hadnt mentioned a Kampa tent I think it was pretty good advise to have a look at some before a final decision is made. People who own certain tents are surely the best people to ask.

Good for you, lets all give you a round of appluase

Was also SIMPLY saying that yes it is a good idea to look at another manufacturer as advised by others, as my other post does state I do own Vango's also, I have previously owned a few Outwells and quality wise I would look at Kampa before Vango.

My advise was based on my experiences on buying/choosing tents and I knew little of Kampa until I was advised by the good people on here, advice I am so very glad I took onboard. Not as you assumed because I have one, so everyone should copy me.

You've really bugged me.
