So today I went to Go Outdoors at Wigan fully intending to buy the Icarus 500 tent, footprint, carpet & canopy for approx £257 after price matching & 10% off etc following everybodies suggestions on my other thread and reading lots of reviews. Had a very nice lad showing me the tent but then he threw a spanner in the works by then going on to show me the Mojave 5. £40 more expensive for the tent (am slightly gutted that I have read some people picked this up for around £100 a few weeks ago but hey ho I missed the offer) and the canopy is significantly more expensive than the Icarus but it seemed like a much more roomy tent and had a good ventilation point at the back of the tent. So I ended up coming away with nothing cause I wanted to read the Mojave reviews which appear to be on a par with the Icarus so now I'm stuck in limbo land - My head is telling me to go for the Icarus still but something niggles me to pay a bit more for the extra space of the Mojave - can anybody sway me in either direction lol???

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
I dont know much about the Mojave, but I can definately recommend the Icarus 500, as we have one! It is by far the best tent we have had so far. has always been reliable in some pretty dreadful weather we've had in the lakes and dales. It is pretty spacious and offers ample room for a 3 or 4 person family, has storage and good entrance points. Has never taken me and my hubby more tha 20 mins to put up.
Good Luck with your choice

Emma have you had a butchers at http://www.winfieldsmegastore.com/l1-sale.html just if you are near wigan this place (east lanc's) may be of interest as the number of tents on show is fantastic, the sales staff are not as good as 'Go' and the checkout is awful but on average a fair bit cheaper and a massive choice in store. The problem with tents is, they are addictive

Bit further to go as we're near Warrington. Please don't say they are addictive, I can see me starting off saying "I don't need much stuff" and "I only need the basics" to coming out of the shop armed with everything that they sell lol and I'm already pricing up the inflatable mattresses and cheapest stoves
I am a fan of both the Icarus 600 and the Mojave. I think if I was in buying mode I think I would pick the best deal available on the day. It's a shame you never see Mojave's pitched anywhere to compare directly.
------------- Armchair camper with more tents than I will probably ever get the use out of.

Well the Icarus was definitely the best deal on the day after price matching with the Outdoor world discount code and a further 10% off so I saved £90 in total - one very happy camper (excuse the pun!) Hubby then proceeded to tell me that he spotted the electric hook up was only £30 today (when we were on the train home!) but the offer ends tomorrow so looks like I'll be going 3 days on the run but then I get my revenge cause he has to go on during the week next week to get my stove and other bits and pieces that are due to be on offer starting from Monday. Just got to decide where to go for our 1st trip now!
