It appears that the Yukon River 4 front extension has been discontinued. Can anyone recommend an alternative Outwell one that will fit or even another brand as long as it fits?
The colour is unimportant.

Hi Gingola,

I can't help with an alternative but I can tell you that I managed to get one sent over from Germany about a month ago despite it being impossible to get one in the UK. The company I got it from is called Doorout.com - their website's currently saying they've got one left - http://www.doorout.com/zelte/tarps-vordaecher-und-pavillons/74504/outwell-yukon-river-4-frontanbau

They were very helpful and efficient. The price of the extension was the RRP pretty much but they didn't charge me much postage (14 euros). It took about a week to arrive.

Hope this helps,
Marc

The Maryland awning is only 5cm narrower than the YR extension.

Thanks for the replies. I may just go for the Tarp / Windbreak combo as I may end up spending a lot of money on something that doesn't really fit.
Janietee I see that you also have a YR4 and use a Tarp. Any chance you could put a few pictures in your gallery showing how you use them together?
Thanks
Gingola10

Hi,
Minnesota 4 extension should fit as its the same tent in polyester. Don't know if one will be any easier to find, but if you do it will be considerably cheaper.

Sadly we didn't take any pics of the set-up with the tarp - but we are going away again next week and I will make sure we take some.

To be honest, buying the tarp was the best thing we did. We had a Vango extension for our Outwell Virginia 5 and that was great, but you were limited to putting it on the front. With the tarp you can put it either side OR out the front, depending on the weather and wind direction.

We threw it over the tent just in front of the first pole if that makes sense, and pegged it out so that we had enough of an overhang the other side. We then used the poles that came with the tarp (made them a bit shorter after we came back in the rain to find two enormous puddles in the tarp!). These went on each end and we had one of the king poles that came with the tent in the middle eyelet of the tarp. These were guyed out to create the perfect area for our cooker and stand.

This time we had the tarp overhanging on the right of the tent as you look at it as this was the only way due to the pitch we were on. But we plan on trying it out the front maybe when we are next away or overhanging on the left of the tent.

We didn't use the windbreak as it was not needed, but we are so pleased that we went for the tarp and didn't try and find an extension.

Sorry I don't have any pics but I hope the explanation works and I will put some pics up at the end of the month when we get back from the lakes.

Ok - I have now found some pics that my husband took. I hope they help. Am just about to put them in my gallery so have a look in a few moments.

Thanks for the pictures Janietee, your description was very accurate. I think I'm going to get a Tarp. It seems much more versatile but I'm going to have to practice pitching it in the garden first so I don't look too much of a halfwit trying to put it up in front of everyone.

Hi All,

First post here but thought it was important to post this.

Just in case anyone is ever reading this and thinking of trying the Minnesota 4 Extension with the Yukon River 4 (as I did) - it doesn't fit. I bought a Minnesota 4 Extension from Campingworld.co.uk to try with my Yukon River 4 and could not make it fit. The Minnesota was too low to fit the Yukon River.

Luckilly I was able to return the Minnesota extension for a small re-stocking fee (Campingworld were helpful).

I have now purchased a polycotton tarp from Obelink for £50 - a good price I think. It was delivered very quickly so I would recommend Obelink. The tarp I bought is Tarp Beige TC. Works very well with the Yukon 4 so I'm happy. It looks very much like the photos by  Zenobia here http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/p/Outwell-Yukon-River-4/1534

It works really well - but if anyne has a Yukon River 4 extension for sale ever do get in touch.
