Just back from a wee trip up to Ullapool in the north west highlands. I tried out my new Bush Shelter for the first time to see how it would perform as a stand alone unit and also to complement my Vango Event Tent, using one to sleep in and the other to "live" in. I went mad with the camera so apologies for the hundreds of photos!
The basic shape is a pyramid but it has an extra hidden flap of material that, when used with the extra pole and guy lines, gives a great area for sheltered cooking or just sitting in out of the rain.
When I moved down to Glencoe later in the week (trying to chase the sunshine!) I used it as a night shelter with the flap zipped away and set up the vango as my day tent.
While I was in Ullapool I took advantage of the good weather and snapped away at anything remotely interesting!!
This is the small cruise ship which tours the Summer Isles which are just off the coast. It is a wild life archipelago, the largest island - Tanera Mor is inhabited but no roads. Link here
On a much larger scale, this is the Calmac ferry The Isle of Lewis coming in to berth from Stornoway.
The water is crystal clear and because the Gulf Stream stretches round this coast, the water is not as cold as it should be! (still not going in!)
Here's a few more shots in and around the village.
On the way down to Glencoe, I stopped off to take a few snaps of the most famous castle of them all - the Eilean Donan. It has featured in many films including Highlander and braveheart.

And then, just before Glencoe, I usually zoom past Ballachulish (beer, beer in boot, get tent up drink beer!). However, the old slateworks archway always catches my eye and I never stop to photograph it(the main road used to run through the arch but now the main road bypasses the village). So time to put that one to bed I think!
And I even managed to get some sunshine! So all in all a great week. Thanks for looking!
