Hi
I am just in the process of buying our first family tent. I was recommended the Vango Colorado as within our budget and I want a seperate room for each of the kids (3&5 yrs) and for me and hubby. I noticed the new Kasari also has 'lights out' fabric, anything to help keep them sleeping longer! I have been told it is HUGE pretty much 7m square. But i envisage needing room for rainy meals, maybe bringing bikes in? and general comfort. Do i need something this big? the 600 is only 70cm shorter and you gain space for a bag or two in our main room.

good choice?? what do you all think?

Hi and welcome
Have you seen one on display anywhere as that gives you a good idea of size, the footprint on the 800 is 700cm x 580cm so yes it is big. I would also ring a couple of campsites you may want to visit to check they have a pitch big enough. There is also a thread on here regarding large tents that may be worth reading.

And take it there to dry it out if you have to pack it away wet.

Always best to do at least one practice pitch before you camp just to check everything is there and working properly. Have a look at any pitching videos as this may help and make a note of how the tent was folded up so you can repack it the same way should make it easier to get it back in the bag.

Good luck and let us all know how it goes

not very good with distances but is this exhibition any good, one of them has finished though, I found it a couple of weeks ago & then decided I couldn't be bothered with a 4hrish round trip!!

We looked at the Kasari after we had to take the Airbeam back but one of the bedrooms has a door, which I didn't like the thought of.

My kids are 14&12 & like their own pods & to be seperated away from us but in the end we compromised and opted for the Vango Maritsa 700, still have a pod each, even though all next to each other but it felt like it had more space then the Kasari, due to the porch being big enough for that rainy day and separate doors to the main area.

Enjoy choosing.

your masitsa looks fab, but i think the kids (being younger) would just bug the hell out of each other tapping on the adjoining wall. i liked the space between 'pods' on kasari. thinking may be able to lock the zip of extra door some how? is there a device? maybe a they get a couple of years older they will share, then we can use that space for bikes etc....

tough choosing! it isn;t enjoyable!! am feeling the pressure of the right choice!
thanks x

at Beviar, many thanks for the tent exhibition link. We went today in a total downpour and ended up buying a Vango Tigris 800 with canopy instead of the Kasari. We loved to flexibility of being able to sit outdoors and shut tent if kids were asleep - and the kasari was just too big with canopy. You just HAVE to see them!
