Hi,
Looking at getting a tarp for our Montana 6. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Vango adventure tarp fits to the front ok. Can anyone confirm this? Anyone got one on their montana 6?
Cheers, Rich

I think most people use the Montana sun canopy now discontinued but available used on Ebay

It should fit.

The elasticated side is longer (30cm) than the roof pole of our Vango Columbia 600 - which is wider than the Monty. We bought a set of longer guyropes and tied loops in the non-slider end of each and loop this around the fabric guying points, feeding the guyrope back through itself so trapping the fabric guying point (and the tip of any king pole). We use the tent's porch poles to make the tarp the right height.

We get about 70cm beyond the foot of the front of the tent, which adequately protects the front from most weather (you can offset it to the side the weather comes from for more protection or take out a pole section to provide more head on protection). We have cooked under our tarp before when its been wet and we are doing cooking that we didn't want to do in the Columbia.

We use the tarp with all our tents and have made side panels from fabric from a tent fabric supplier that we can Grip Clip on and bungee down if the weather is side on.

Thanks for the info speedcamp.
I have ordered the tarp. Was supposed to be delivered today to my office. But have just checked my tracking and it says they left an unable to deliver card at 9am this morning. Not sure how that's possible as I was there from 7am.
I'll set it up as you described. Off down Cornwall on Sunday for a week.

Have fun! Remember to guy the elasticated side quite firm and backwards towards the rear of the tent to stop it popping off.

Have fun!

Thanks Speedcamp. All looks nice and easy. It came today. Got it out the bag in the lounge and all looks well. Just going to pop up the camp shop on Saturday for some extra guys. What lengths should I need?
Then off on Sunday morning down to Cornwall.

Dam - just put our tarp away after drying it so can't be 100% certain what length of guys we got. I think they were 3m going by a tape measure I have to hand. You won't need a longer one for the central point at the front as that has a VERY long guy with a slider at either end. Attach this with a loop in the middle. You will however need longer ones for the 4 other guying points.

Good luck and happy camping!

Hi,
Having just got back from our trip to Cornwall (Added on extra nights as we were having a ball). Thought I'd post a couple of pics of the Monty with the Vango Tarp added. It worked very well especially as it was only £23. Meaning we could have the front door open when it was raining and no rain came in at all. Was a little breezy on some days and withstood that fine. However I would probably take it down if it got real windy.
I found the best way to keep it stretched and in place over the roof of the tent was to take the 2 rear guy lines and send them back along the tent then round the inside of the second upright steel pole then straight out and down to the ground. I'll see if I can find a close up pic that may explain that better later.
We've spent a small fortune on gear this year so the proper Outwell canopy was out, but this worked really well. Sure I'd use it again. I may save and buy a proper canopy/extension but not entirely sure I need to.
Cheers, Rich

Hi,
Here's a crop of the image which shows the guy going round the upright pole then out to the floor.
Cheers, Rich

Glad it worked well for you. At least its quicker to pitch than the extension, won't cost you more on pitch fees and takes up less space in the car. Looks good too
