First off is there anywhere that you can see a Kalahari pitched as this would be the best way to tell if it was suitable. With this design of tent the living area is not going to be massive as the bedrooms at both ends take up a large part of the tent, which is why people will keep saying buy the porch as well
With regards to life expectancy most polyester tents only have a lifespan of 12 to 14 weeks approx when exposed to the suns UV rays as this breaks down the material. Kampa tend to use heavier weight materials on their tents that have a longer life span. Of the normal mass produced tents those made of polycotton will have a much longer life span (material wise)than polyester but are also more expensive
Good luck with your search

Hi - I would suggest you do go for the Kalahari 10 - it is £249 in Go Outdoors this week and has half price extras.
We thought we would upgrade this year and got an Outwell Tennessee 6. We were so disappointed and got a refund after 3 attempts due to faulty materials. It was also difficult to put up and draughty.
We bought a porch for the Kalahari 10 and a carpet and went back to the old tent and can't believe what a good tent it is and how easy to put it up compared to the Outwell. Looking forward to a weekend in the Lakes and 2 weeks in France this summer.
Happy Camping!

I've had one for years they're brilliant. I've found the carpet useless it collects grass and is a pain when packing away, forget that. The porch is brilliant as we used to prep food in it in the rain, kick our shoes off in there and use for storage. Price seems really good to me. Defo get a ground sheet it'll preserve your tent. No damage except one pole snapped in probably about 15 years. Size is amazing just watch if you're booking on sites with restricted space. I'd say a definate yes
I don't know if you've realised but, this post is 13 years old!
