I have had a trial run at putting up my Monty 6 and am a little confused as to where the different pegs should be used. There are plastic yellow, blue and black ones plus metal ones. Any help would be really appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

Thats a popular tent you have there so someone will no doubt answer your questions later on today.

I'm of little help as I down own that particular tent.

Im surprised it is not mentioned in the instructions though?

Anyway, you'll no doubt get an answer later.

Hi,

Metal pegs go in the four corners of the ground sheet

Black pegs hold down the rest of the body of the tent

yellow pegs are for the ropes

Hi and welcome

Is this a new Montana tent or used

The New 2011 Montana has the colour coded pegs as Old Grey has described
The Blue platic ones are from an earlier model and if I remember correct they are the same length as the new black ones

Thanks for your help. It's new but last years model so got it cheaper than 2009 models on ebay ! The instructions are next to useless and the videos I've seen so far don't show you the pegs. Will check out the suggested video when I have time to watch it properly. Getting really excited now, it's been 15 years since I last camped!

Another quick Q - will the supplied pegs be OK or do I need to buy different ones? We are trying to keep extra costs down this year, but plan to expand our equipment next year.

Many thanks again.

At the suggestion of Finnboy I purchased some " Delta ground anchors "  . The purchase was completed late on Friday night online, and they have arrived today !

Rob Orr , th seller seems to be VERY well organised and offers members of this forum a 10% discount on the £0.90p price for these.  I have bought enough of these to use them on all the main load bearing lines of the tent. Have a look at

http://www.deltagroundanchors.co.uk/     and see if you think they might help the pegging points to remain firm in high winds.
