The Obelink bell tent is not the same as the soulpad tent. Similar, but not the same. So although you can peg down the walls, you cannot peg down the rubber mudflap on the Obelink. I must admit, I have not used the setup without pegs in the groundsheet of my Obelink bell, and yes, it makes sense that it shouldn`t move once finally set up.
Hi
Thanks for this, I was getting confused looking at the soulpad as realised they had the "holes! obelink didnt :)
Do you have an obelink too? Do you have an inner? If so, how have you found it to be with the pegs? How do you get the mud flaps neatly tucked down around those?
Thanks again! :)

raf48, think we might try leaving the groundsheet unpegged, there are 7 of us in our tent so plenty of junk to hold it down.
I was thinking that if it isn't too windy you could just lay it out and put in a few pegs, then use the ground sheet to lay out the canvas while we peg it, then once the tent is pitched take out the pegs from the ground sheet and tuck it in.
That's the plan anyhow :) I know it will be pretty waterproof either way but we are away for a week next time and I don't want to end up with puddles!
I think we're going to try this at the weekend. We'll be at a festival for 3 nights so we're not going to bother taking the inner tent so we figure we can try out without the pegs on groundsheet and see how we get on. Same idea, loosely peg the groundsheet in to use as a guide for the canvas and once canvas up will take the pegs out and tuck it in!

The Obelink bell tent is one and the same as the BelltentUk tent. The UK sellers are agents for the Obelink tents and have struck an agreement with Obelink NOT to sell/ship these tents to the UK so they can make a healthy profit. If you want one of these tents it's easier and less hassle to buy from BelltentUk than from the Netherlands. And apparently they have a good reputation, despite the Mark up. Have a look at the review for the 5M standard bell tent on this site and click on the owners photos to get a view of the inside of our tent without the bedroom. (which I prefer).

unless like me your family live in France and are due a road trip ;) Had mine sent to my mums just before they were due to drive up and see us so they could pop it into their boot :)
One other point, I have no idea how you are supposed to peg down the inner tent. I have a canvas and cast 4 mtr inner, and a belltentuk 5 mtr inner both with pegging points. I again just rely on contents to hold them in place. One of my other tents with a sewn in ground sheet, has rubber grommets that the pegs are pushed through to form a seal, but probably not worth the effort.
------------- Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
