Hi All

We have just changed from the Argos Nevada 8 tent to the K8 because it is the size we like, but have never pitched a tent with sewn in ground sheet before, has anybody got any advice for pitching, we are giving tent a try out this week at our local campsite and my partner is hoping to pitch it before i arrive there straight from work, is it possible to do on his own as he never had any problems with the old 8 berth.

Hi and welcome
Shouldnt really be much different from pitching your old tent. The SIG makes it heavier and its also worth opening a door before you lift the tent up to let some air in but close it againg prior to pegging it out.

Experience enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again

there are some folks who have said it's easier to put the poles into the ring&pin before you erect the tent..never actually tried this..yet...but might try it next time

means the weight of the tent isn't on the poles when you're trying to get them onto the pins, which can be a struggle sometimes.

Also, I've noticed that a new tent can be very tight, but after a few uses it seems to loosen up a bit.

Half Empty or Half Full, it doesn't matter..it simply means there is room for more beer in your glass!!

Shouldn't be too much of a problem for one - especially if your OH has already put other tents up.  Anchor the corners first, insert poles, and I think I would second the ring and pins suggestion too - it will be easier to erect the full arch.  The poles do take a bit of effort  to get enough bend to insert the pin, just make sure they are getting bent evenly or the pole may break.  It hasn't happened to me but I always worry about putting the right amount of pressure on!!

Will try this method richibeno. We have just bought the Kalahari 8. We have put it up twice so far, but have struggled a bit as it is quite heavy, my 17 year old son has helped. However we are off to Wales next weekend, and he isn't coming with us, so me and hubby will have to manage on our own.
