Funny this question cropped up, just last night I was discussing it with my sister, who is thinking about the awning or the extension.  If you read descriptions it says it can be FULLY open or enclosed.  Then I watched the video on the link below and am still unsure.

We have the 2011 version and it most certainly can be fully opened.

There are zips right up against the corners giving the option to lift and roll the whole front up.

There are also eyelets in each corner to allow king-poles to be slotted into to create a canopy (its a big canopy!)

Yes the front rolls up or can be poled out as a canopy
