hi,
searching for some advice - need a 2 man tent for me and maybe but i doubt it.... the mrs!
i've been looking at wild country duolite, mountain hardwear raven 2 and the vaude taurus all about the £150 mark.
finding it difficult to get some sound opinions rather than sales pitch.
anyone got any or know anything about them?
thanks

Hi Soames - of those the vaude Taurus would be my favourite, it's a great design and very stable in bad weather.

Also - a bit of shameless marketing but we review some 2man tents on our blog - top-tents.blogspot.com. It's still a work in progress, so by no means comprehensive!

I can only speak of the Wild Country tent but overall I'd recommend it if the layout suits you. I have the Sololite rather than the Duolite but it's basically the same tent.

Good points: very strong and stable, not flappy in wind, the easiest tent I've ever pitched, great pegs, the retracting inner is not just a gimmick but really works well, good spacing between fly and inner, ventilation options on the inner door, handy inner pockets and light hanging loop. I'm 5'11" and can just sit up in the door end. The long porch is good for shielding a stove from the wind.

Downsides: the front entry is slightly awkward (but probably less so on the Duolite, it's relatively heavy for the space it provides. You'll note I can't get a 50L rucksack in the porch of the Sololite (well I can, but I'd be climbing over it all the time).

Is it for backpacking?
