We're a couple of oldee returners (total age 147) looking for a 4 berth tent with headroom and, most important, quick & easy to put up. We'd been very tempted by the Vango Airbeam Infinity 400 but were put off by the very poor reviws.
Any suggestions for practical alternatives, please? (No! Not a World Cruise - I haven't got a tie!)

hello and welcome I cant help with tent choices, but maybe try reposting on the tent part of the forum, you'll get more answers there. You'll probably get some here too.

I notice you live in Cheshire,if you find Camperlands in Manchester they have loads of tents which may suit you all erected,also Go outdoors in Stockport is not too far away they have plenty too.

Welcome if you are prepared to buy the extra living area this is the easiest tent I've seen, been hanging my nose over it for ages even though I have a caravan now.

Do you need standing room in your bedroom area? How much space do you want in your tent? I have to admit I like alot of extra living area with a tent in case of bad weather.

The Hi Gear Gobi 4 would be perfect for a couple, haven't got one (yet - still dithering!) but its very high all through and a good internal size. And it's on at £125 at the moment at Go Outdoors.

Have a look at the Vango Kairos.

TBH, plain and simple tunnel tents are easy peasy to put up. Something like this:

Just check the height. That one there is 5'8" at the tallest point.

To be honest most tunnel type tents are easy to put up but can take a bit of time, another option would be a bell tent, peg out corners, single pole inside then peg out rest job done.

I can erect our Licata 400 solo in about 15-20 minutes (I'm a short, fat, unfit mum of 3 with back and knee problems!)

Lovely tent which is easy to erect, large bedroom pod, good sized living area, standing height throughout, SIG, massive windows let in loads of light, good ventilation.

Ours has withstood some horrendous wind and rain with no leaks or snapped poles in sight!

a second for the quechua base second puts itself up really and plenty room in living area to stand and even for table and chairs and fantastic design love it cant reccommend it enough good luck and welcome to ukcs youl definately get plenty advise and help here anyway
