Have to agree that is a bargain, just wondering if the vestibule from the Studland will fit it, and then we'd have 'perfection'

Yes, the car is bigger than the 'van.

we are also up grading our icarus 600, I really like the look of the all the tents in your selection and the glendale 5 , with the front porch had the winning factour for me, as I have the canopy for the 600 which is a great cooking area but it's the open front 1, on our last trip we got up and took it down.

I had a wall round the glendale in caseys aswell as looking at you tube video. I will post a review as soon as I have my new tent .

really difficult choices, the monty has the most living space and your going to struggle to find a tent with as much, but do you really need that much space for 3 of you? you are then going to need a seperate extension for cooking as you said.

the salinas will also need a seperate extension for cooking and has a decent living space(albeit smaller than the monty)

The glendale has a smaller living space again but the added bonus of the built in front extension.

We are also a family of 3, our son is 8yo, we manage quite easily in our oakland xl living space and use the side extension for cooking(check the photo's on the reviews section). another option for you would be the salinas with an oakland xl side extension for cooking etc, we picked our extension up off fleabay brand new for £60 odd quid.

Good luck in whatever you go for.

Monty can be had for £360 now so not so much difference in the long term.

The extension can be had for aroung £110 and the awning for a little over £150 if you still need the extra space over the monatana 6 already large living area. My parents and I both have the montana 6 & awning and when up they make for a huge space. However just in my parents montana 6 without any awning etc and the space was still excellent for 3/4 people. Small porch great too. The head clearance is excellent too with the walls almost vertical with no restrictions across the entire floorspace. Very useable space and superb quality allround. The zip down/up windowns make for excellent privacy with almost conservatory like feel when all the windows are zipped down.

I have just gone through this dilemma as i have only recently purchased both my parents and my own setup. The Salinas did seem a very good tempting buy, especially for the tent & awning, but i personally chose the montana and awning as over the long term it really wasn't a huge cost increase for more space and the small porch.

Well at least I've narrowed my choice down to the Salinas and Glendale, the Monty is just to dear with the extension, carpet, and footprint. Is there a big difference in fabric materials between the two?
