Hi we have a new to us Cabanon Aruba, we have set it up in the garden and are unsure whether to have the mud flaps in or out. The instructions say inside and we would prefer that as we can then put the tarp/groundsheet over top to stop draughts. However, what do you do about the tent poles? Do you cut the flap so that you can put it either side of the pole?

If the flaps are designed to go inside, then there will be splits in the flap to go round the poles. It won't be possible to have them out, as the pegging down points will stop them going outwards. Hope that makes sence. As you already said, yours are designed to go inside which is much better. Having had both designs, I can say that inside is much better at stopping drafts.

Hi Helen, I know what you mean about the flaps not fitting around the poles. I tried various ways with my Athena but ended up cutting them to allow them to fit neatly around the poles. If you then use a slightly oversized ground sheet/tarp you can lay that partially over the mud flaps and it forms a fairly weather proof barrier. Boxes/fridge etc will then hold the ground sheet in place. We also managed to get hold of an Outwell Montana 12 carpet and laid this on top of the ground sheet. This was a good fit and made it very cosy.
------------- If you think you can, or you think you can't.......you're probably right!
Our Andorra had to have the mudflaps cut in one place around one of the centre legs as this didn't have a "split" for the poles (all the others did??)... Once cut though, they won't split or fray anymore....
As Raf says, the flaps on most Cabanons are designed to be used inside as once pegged you can't really pull them out anyway. Just remember that whilst packing away, to unpeg most of the rubbers and pull out the flaps to dry as 9 times out of 10 they will be wet!
3madboyz, Well said. It drives me mad when I forget to pull the flaps out first. I have a breathing problem, and it takes me ages to get round with a cloth to dry them off. Another reason it takes me so long to peg down my Eldorado

We always found when we had our Elody that even though the flaps went inside they were never a good fit around the poles, but once the groundsheet was on top of them all was ok.
