Have just returned from taking my two small boys on their first ever camping experience. It all went really well except we simply didn't have enough room once it rained. We currently have Vango 4 birth but there is only a very small porch area and I would love to be find something that had a living space at the front.
I have seen a couple that are 5 birth with two sleeping sections side-by-side with the porch in front which I like the look of but I'm not sure how easy this would be for me to put up on my own.
So I'm looking for a tent that can be put up alone, but also spacious enough for a small family. If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it.
Not going to rush out and buy it now but thought if I have a few types to look out for I can keep an eyes on sales etc.
Thanks :)

I have the Vango Calisto 500, my hubby can put this up on his own, and myself and the 8 and 4 year olds can do it also. It has loads of room, also a porch for that extra space.

2013 Nothing as yet , trying to get new boyfriend to go camping soon. Selling Maritisa 700 , so we can put it towards a VW Camper.
I'm the exact opposite from you! Me and my two boys (3 and 5) recently came back from our first camping trip in Cornwall. The tent that I opted for was a 4 birth Vango Calisto (currently being returned - along with the carpet bag, the footprint, and also a Vango sleeping bag - all due to poor quality!) and found that although there was a decent size living area, we didn't want to be sat in it - it was much more fun to be sat at the beach!
By the way, I personally found the Calisto quite difficult to put up on my own - although this may just be a problem with the 4 man version, as a few people have said that there is not enough slack when pining the poles.
Based on the above, we have decided to downgrade - we're currently looking for a 3 birth tent that we can simply bed down in, and spend the days out and about. For me, the luxury of camping is visit somewhere nice and not have to return the same day.
I'm Currently looking at the Vango Omega 350 or the Vango Chinook 300..

Hi, I'm no expert, my wife and I have only just started camping. We have an Outwell Nevada M which seems roomy to us; we managed with the two of us plus our adult daughter. I am 56 and not very fit but have managed to put the tent up and take it down on my own.
Another vote for the Outwell Nevada M. My friend camps on her own with her two boys and after a lot of research this is the one she chose - on offer for the bargain price of £200 at Millets ATM.
