Putting a footprint under the hawaii should be easy as you pitch the canvas,then once inside lay the footprint then put the zig in over the footptint.

Last time i was away I saw someone pitch their tent on top of a 4m x 4m groundsheet,their tent did't have a footprint of 4m x4m and it rained like hell,i did warn them to fold the extra under the sig but they didn't listen lol 

We were just deciding wether or not to get the hawaii reef which is our preffered layout with the porch area but the colour and the material quality between it and the lake tents swayed us to a montana lake.

The zig did feel of lesser quality but to say it would leak if sat on water i would strongly doubt that unless it was faulty.I've owned an SV8 since 2006 and had puddles under that tents ground sheet and only when there has been a puncture in the material has it ever let water through and the feel in quality between that and the hawaii's is chalk and cheese in the hawaii's favour.
