Hi

Still looking for my ideal tent.  I like the look of the Lomond 3 tent it has standing height in the porch, alloy poles, and flysheet has 4000mm HH, but can anyone tell me why a company would make a tent with such a thin groundsheet that is only 1000mm HH?  I presume that anybody who has one of these tents must use an additional groundsheet under the tent.  If anyone out there has one please let me know if you have problems with the groundsheet.  Any comments would be most welcome.

 I have a Lomond 3 and have had no problems with the groundsheet. I've only used it twice but the last time I had torrential rain and ended up with a moat round the tent. No issues with the thickness of the groundsheet and I don't believe I had any water ingress from the floor up, so I wouldn't worry about that.

 I did have the usual problems with the only door being at the front and sloped, so every time it was opened in the rain, some water did get in.Also there is no zip along the bottom of the door so it gets quite 'flappy' and draughty in the wind and its essential to keep the separately zipped mesh door closed to prevent the outer door from lifting over the bath tub groundsheet  and allowing rain to pour in. I solved the 'flappiness'  using a clingon half way along the bottom of the door and pegging.

 I had plenty of weather on holiday including gale force gusts one night, the lomond coped fine with the wind, alloy poles and plenty guy ropes.

 Yes , I used a separate footprint under the groundsheet, really just to keep mud off the SIG and make it easier to pack away.
