I have just bought a new Gelert Beyond Meridian 10 tent from an ebay shop. Paid £329 for the tent and porch. We ablsolutely love the tent, it is so much easier to put up that our last tent and there is lots of space.
However, when we first put it up in the garden to try it out we noticed a small hole in the outer tent. It's very small, but could easily get bigger with use. I am positive it was not because of anything we did.
I contacted the shop asking for a replacement and they say they haven't got any more of them, but have offered me a tent repair kit and a £10 refund. I really think £10 is not sufficient, so am tempted to email them back asking for more, but wondered if anyone else here felt the same?
Thanks!

Send it back and get a refund if they can't exchange it.

If it is only a small hole you can easily and quickly repair it with Tenacious Tape.
I have repaired 3 of my tents with this and it does the job brilliantly.
It comes in a roll or in patches.
It's very, very sticky.
Peel and stick over the hole from the inside and then the same on the outside (obviously the tent has to be bone dry)
The tape is invisible and you will hardly notice it.
Every kit bag should have a roll of this.
You say you like the tent, it's a bind having to do a repair and I don't think £10 is enough, but Tenacious Tape will do the job for you and provided you follow instructions, you won't have any leaks.
HTH.

I would agree that if you like then keep it, BUT I would want £10 at the very least plus the cost of a roll of Tenacious tape costing about £7 So perhaps £20 minimum or a refund.
------------- Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.

I have just bought some tenacious tape. The cheapest I could find was £6.99 on ebay and you don't get a lot for your money, although hopefully I won't need to use it often.
I used it to seal a small (2mm) hole which appeared in the roof of my tent, possibly from a bird's claw. It stuck well and invisibly although because it is invisible I can still see light coming through the hole in the white roof.
If you have some material the same colour as the flysheet then it might be best to stick that to the hole with the tentacious tape then it should be pretty well invisible, otherwise you will still see light through it even though you have stuck the tape on.
I would want a heck of a lot more than a tenner if I found a hole in a new tent!

Instead of tenacious tape, look at sail repair tapes (or spinnaker repair tape). Much more for your money and at least as good.
Just noticed the time.... I can't sleep!

Sorry for delay. I've just picked up what's suitable from local marine chandlers, but all the PSP tapes are readily available online, e,g, http://www.speedsails.co.uk/C~Sail_Repair_Tape__5417.html. I've just noticed the Scotch transparent extra high strength duct tape...

Update - after my email they have increased their refund to £30, and the repair kit is on its way. Think I'll be getting some of this tape beforehand though!
Thank you all for your advice, it's the first time I've been on this forum and you've been very helpful!

Would the tape used for poly tunnels work too?
