Afternoon all,

I've just returned from a lovely bank holiday week in Mablethorpe, very windy, but the WL coped with ease.

It was the first time we have pitched the tent and I hope a WL veteran can answer a couple of questions for me.

The rearmost side guy ropes (where the front of the bedrooms hang). Looking at pictures online, people seem to peg these at 90 degrees from the tent, i.e. to the side. But the rear pin of the horizontal pole presses agains the upper guy tab. Should I just tuck it under the pin or leave it pressing?

The ZIG, once zipped in, was fairly crumpled and the WL5 carpet was about 4" too long for the living area. The top of the tent was solid but got a little looser at the base. The front was really billowing at the base. Did I simply not stretch out the base enough?

Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes

New! Please upload a photo of your tent to the Tent Showcase!

Hi there - with the rear guys, I think we put them at a slight angle, ie towards the rear of the tent, it also kept them clear of the side doors a bit more. Our carpet is quite generous too, and the zig feels as though it's higher at the front than round the sides - last time we were away we stretched the base out as far as we could but the zig still seemed high at the front, so we assumed it's meant to be like that! We waited until the zig was in before properly pegging out and that seemed to help.

Thanks for the reply Mairi.

In order for the guy tab not to clear the pin I need a 45 degree angle towards the rear. It kind of makes the next guy rope redundant.

The ZIG was of equal height all around the tent but ruffled on the floor. Next time I'm away I'll pull the base as taught as I can.
