It was advertised as used once and only a little muddy, but on closer inspection it appears to have damp stains on it in few areas where they must have packed it wet :( Does anyone have experience of this with polycotton tents? Can it be cleaned at all and will it effect it's waterproofness?
We got it with footprint, carpet and matching windbreak as well as outwell kitchen unit, outwell table with 4 matching chairs and 2 intex double double electric pump airbeds for £400. I had thought I got a got a good deal, but if the tent is stuffed then obviously not. What are your thoughts?
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
Did you get it on eBay as I was watching that lot! I have a Holkham 6 for sale on here and wondered how much I might get for it.
You got a really good deal by the sounds of it, despite the stains. The accessories you got with it are probably worth around £400 alone.
If the damp has dried and left marks, it is likely to remain waterproof on a polycotton, but the seller should have listed all its faults and been honest.
If you're completely satisfied and you haven't got an item as described, then you're more than eligable for a refund.
I recently bought a Sunncamp Day Room off eBay and it wasn't in 'great condition' as described as there were a number of relatively small faults, but enough for me not to want it. I contacted the seller and he offered me a refund. I have yet to hear back from him as to when I can return it though!
Lol yes it was the one on eBay, I was impatient so asked if they had a price to end it early. Stupidly that meant it was a cash sale outside of eBay so no help if any problems. Really we should have un packed it there to check, but I'd sent hubby to collect it as it's an hours drive and all the extras take up a lot of space in the car! I don't think the condition is awful but won't know full extent until we get to test it out.
Why are you selling yours? I didnt see it on here, but then I only looked on south east
We got an outwell Idaho xl off e bay earlier in the year! Travelled a couple of hours to collect it ... Didn't check it straight away as it's not that easy when you don't have enough room to erect it .. At first opportunity we did only to find "the immaculate" tent had mildew marks nothing that will effect the tent as it is on the inner door and sleeping pods... I washed those and sponged the inner door . There was a small book in the sleeping pod that was ringing wet ! I contacted the seller who said it was fine when they packed it away ! To be honest I should have returned it but I didn't unpack it to check until a few weeks later ! I will now sell it next spring and tell prospective buyer about the marks ! And it will be my loss.. I am now going to buy a new one so any marks will be my marks !
Yes you live and learn with eBay, we are hoping to take tent out for a couple of nights locally this month, maybe ashurst? If it's all sound then I will have to just live with marks and pretend they are mine. We could never have afforded the £1300 they supposedly spent on all the gear so I don't mind it not being perfect. I do think it is such a shame they didn't air it out though, and even more that they didn't say it had stains! People really should take more care of such expensive items, surely?
