I am considering buying a 2011 tent in the sales but how long do I / can I leave it to get the best price but not miss the sales? I know this is the million dollar question But any experience in when the best sale prices are to be found will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I bought my tent from Yeomans in the end of season sales (end of October) and originally I hesitated since it was still more pricey than any other tent I had ever bought. Consequently they sold out before I made up my mind. Luckily, a little while later they had some more in at the same price and I hesitated no longer.
The moral of this story is that he who hesitates is lost
Usually the larger companies sell off the tents at a certain price and that doesn't usually alter since they have a limited stock to get rid of to make way for the latest models and if the price is a bargain they sell easily.
I find this is the time of year that many of the models go out of stock, and of course there is no more stock until they get 2012 ranges in. So now would be the answer, anytime now through til' October. What are you after in particular?
I am after a new Vango Tigris 400 - my current Tigris is an aged fleabay one and I am not sure the flysheet will last another season. I really like the layout and size though and the 2011 has a better spec.

I posed the same question 3 weeks ago. I really wanted the Wolf Lake 5 but wondered if the price would drop lower than £799 (Yeomans). Since it was already £450 off RRP I decided to buy it anyway. I bought it from the Yeomans exhibition in Nottingham, even haggled a free carpet as a bonus.
The price never dropped further and they are now out of stock. So a good call on my part.
Unless you are flexible on the make/model of tent I would buy now before stock runs out.
Be careful about taking the RRP into consideration and thinking you have a bargain. Rarely is anything ever sold at the RRP. What you need to know is what a company was selling the item for previously and what they are selling it for now, to establish whether you are getting it cheaper or not.
The WL5 was on sale beginning of 2011 for £1099 and stayed at this price throughout high season. Most retailers dropped the price to £899 by end of July. Yeomans slashed the price further to £799. So you're right, never sold at RRP from the main retailers.
