Long-time camper, first-time poster just upgraded from a Coleman Ridgeline 4 (which has served us very well) to a fantastic Vango Salina 400. It's getting to be quite an old model now but of course that means bargain clearance deals and I'm thrilled to have picked it up new for £350.
So here she is, on a practice pitch in our garden! Had a tiny leak along one of the door seams after the torrential rain this weekend. Guessing it might have sealed itself up in the end but a bit of Nikwax on the outside seems to have sorted it now anyway.
Is there any harm in using a large piece of polythene as a footprint for it, as I'm struggling to find anywhere that stocks the original accessories for it now?
Will post back with updates as we start using it properly.

Nice tent - I've got one the same for a bargain price as well - I took the dimensions from the site and bought a vango footprint from another tent to fit underneath - it's just slightly too short but not a drama.

Very nice and the colour is perfect for it. I'm sure you'll enjoy your trips in it. As for a polythene footprint. Why not. Nip down to B&Q or whoever and buy it straight off the roll for half what a tailor made one would cost

Thanks everyone! Regarding the footprint, Toolstation have a 3m x 4m damp proof membrane for around £7. Think it will be about 40cm short on the length but a lot cheaper than the genuine article. Will give it a go!

Am no expert but can't see why polythene would not do the job. Better still, why not a tarpaulin (you can get these from DIY stores or chandlers) it would be tougher and they seem to be similar construction to purpose made footprints. I am a big fan of using a footprint, great protection for the tent, insulating and keeps the tent groundsheet clean. Someone out there may know a current production tent the same size as yours then you could get a proper footprint? Lovely looking tent by the way!
After a bit of research, picked up a perfect carpet for it today, from a Gelert Morpheus 6. At 315 x 355 it fits the width perfectly and is long enough to extend partially under bedrooms. Best of all it has a large velcro section which can be removed to accommodate an optional bedroom in the Gelert, but in the Salina the velcro line falls just where you need pull the floor hook through for the bedroom centre toggle.
It attracted our attention, but it really needed to have extra guys and some ties on the front so that you could roll back the canopy out of the way in windy weather. We are a bit fussy when it comes to canopies . Did like the concept of the sloping front and canopy combination though...
Nice tent!
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
