Hi all, just bought an ex demo outwell hawaii reef, for a bargain price! we where told this is ex demo and needs cleaning. Part erected in my small garden which it swamps not pegged or guyed! The colour has faded drastically its now oatmeal rather than orange other than the door! which must of been rolled up for acess when being demo.  We were told been outside for 5 weeks.  Now dare I say we pressure hosed the tent and grandsheets they were well pitted.  I have not used any cleaning fluid on it or reproofed it. Think this is the next step but dont think we have the weather on our side being late september. Any advice please its appreciated? Also we have watched the pitching video and I'll be honest we did struggle lifting this up at the front once all poles were in.  Does anyone have any tips for easyness? especially packing this away cant seem to find a video of this been dismantled.

Hi we sell off our polly cotton tents at the end of the seaon to, I have no doubt that the tent will be a different colour even for 5 weeks as the orange is such an easy colour to fade thats why most manufacturs ones are either brown or green as they dont fade easy.
Cleaning wise all you should use is hot water and a scrubbing brush to clean the tent no fairy !!!!! as this will ruin the material.
Then 5lt of storm or fabsil proofing stand inside with a pump up pressure sprayer and do a pannel at a time just becarfull of the windows :) yes inside cotton absorbes so doesnt matter if your inside or out.

Had a customer take down one of ours the other day and he proofed it and everything before he left very impressed :)

Pitching practice makes perfect i put all the tents up here on my own and there is a way for everyone different and it would take a whole thread to explain an easy way :)
just dont get fooled in videos there helpfull but its best to have your own way.

thank you for my rant hope it helped though enjoy your lovely new tent

Tom

Hi Tom many thanks for your post, with reproofing I do have Fabsil 5L just really apprehensive doing it.  You did say I can do this inside our outside and be careful of the windows? Do I spray the seams? and If I dont do this right will it look all patchy?

Im new to UK Campsite Im loving all advice that I can get through this forum.  Its been a bit daunting buying an ex demo and it needing some TLC. As far as I can tell there are no faults so Im well impressed with it especially having a polycotton tent.  I wont be suffering tent awe anymore lol

regards andrea

Basically your tent is cotton with an aspect of poly woven through it as such, the seams are not taped as you would a poly tent its all natural fibre so it repells water naturally ... yes stand inside and spray it all over... if it drips you are wasting it so just enough it soaks it up, yes mind the windows otherwise you will get proofing on them then you will have to clean those also lol.
It wont look patchy what will happen when it rains is that it wont beed

Hope this helps
